  • Is this good for sandblasting, or a higher HP is more ideal?

    • bigger CFM is more ideal.

Having dual motors does help alot though.

    • Depends on project. It's got 210L/min flow which isn't low.

Hi, it is really way too small for sand blasting. Sand/media blasting requires a huge free air delivery system. If you don't have this, the compressor will run continually and you will be stopping more than blasting for it to build up pressure. Of course, it all depends on the job size.

One huge feature of this type of compressor is the significantly reduced noise composed to typical direct drive ones.

  • I have this model. It delivers good airflow, however if you absolutely need a silenced compressor avoid it.

It starts off quiet..ish but almost equals my old Ryobi direct drive when getting close to full. I’d buy a Chicago Hush 50 next time, double the price but oh so quiet.

    • The Hush50 is 241lpm FAD and 69bB, whereas the Toolex 598554 is 475lpm FAD and 62dB

I second this. Mine is 6 months old and noise wise seems no different to my normal compressor. I purchased this one after hearing a hush 50, thinking it would be similarly quiet. I’m quite disappointed.

      • Was going to purchase the stanley after looking at the Hush series for awhile. It says it's 62db compared to the 69db for the Hush. Is this not the case IRL or am I missing something?

        • Mine is definitely louder than a Hush 50. Hush has an aluminium tank too.

    • Do the Chicago have the same pumps? I got one of these Stanley units and find it quiet and the noise level doesn't change up to 120psi. So much quiet than my old Vertical direct drive from Aldi (whatever that brand is).

The noise from these things comes mostly from the intake and those air filter pods knock a fair amount of sound out. Some silent compressors even have short sections of tube to stick in the intake of those plastic pods to knock a bit more of the noise off.

  • what's everyone's opinion on this one? (or the brand in general, obviously Stanley is a much more well known brand, at least to me)

the figures on paper sounds impressive enough (350L/min), not sure how it performs in real life though.

thinking about getting one mainly to re-spray my old car, instead of doing ghetto style (rattle cans) :)

    thanks everyone :)

That V-twin will be very loud. Ask your local ST branch to fire it up. It will require compressor oil which means you may need a filter to clean it out of the air supply. Painting needs a clean and dry air supply.

      • thx for that, I will need to do some research on the oil/filter thing as well (i guess it is not as straight forward as those youtube videos)

or, maybe I will just stick with rattle cans lol
