Thanks. I have updated the pricing and description.
Be careful of coupon for private use, and order will be cancelled because of problem with buyer's address.
For exactly the same reason, I would not touch anything from them ever again.
huh?
They posted a deal on eBay front page and dishonored the orders claiming the coupon was intended privately used by one single user and cancelled most if not all orders used that couple with reason "problem with buyer's address".
Dang, I pulled the trigger on this deal !
What are the recommended drives for this NAS?
Im planning to start off with 2 drives and add as required.
I have being using Seagate IronWolf drives with DS916+ for years now, seems to be fast and reliable.
Thanks cliffj,I know HDD size requirements are subjective, but given my plan, whats the best bang for buck?
Search WD Elements here on OzB sold by Amazon. They're the best value drives per TB (when on sale). The only catch is that you'll have to shuck them (remove from external enclosure).
Depends what your long term storage requirements are. It's generally best to get larger drives within your budget. When you add more drives to the array in future they will have to be the same or higher capacity as the initial drives.
Make sure you get NAS drives. The cheapest/best bang for buck tends to be shucking external drives from WD or Seagate. OzB has pretty regular deals.
When you set it up use SHR (Synology Hybrid RAID). It will configure your initial 2 drive array as mirror and automatically upgrade when you add more drives.
Best bang for buck is to shuck WD elements external drives. They're considerably cheaper than buying dedicated Nas drives and are generally equivalent.
If you're planning on mirroring (which is recommended) then I wouldn't go below 2x8tb, although obviously depends on usage
I would go for the largest support size(Did not check the spec, might be 16TB?) as swapping drives out would be an royal pain in the a**.
And depends on the nature of your content, you might not want to go for RAID configurations as it's simply too troublesome if something went wrong.
This or the ASUSTOR AS5304T?
I purchased ASUSTOR AS5304T recently + another 4GB ram but I never owe a Synology NAS before. I'm a person who prefers hardware configurations than software supplied within the NAS. If you want more videos help / tutorials, I believed Synology has a lot more youtube help. However, ASUSTOR has its own tutorials which I think they are very useful

Here is the video link for a good comparison between the 2 models.
Wait for 20% off ?
Cant get a discount gift card from Suncorp anymore :(
Are the ShopBack gift cards instant?
Suncorp rewards is still working for me
Wouldn't apply a $500 gift card for me, kept going around in circles.
Not had this issue before so thought it was shut down..
I think there might be a monthly limit.
so if you have spend with ebay in the past 30 days (literally) then that counts to the monthly allowance.
I think i hit that with Amazon or one of the other sites.
There's a pop up in the app saying that "Suncorp Benefits will be switching off. From 20 January 2022, you'll no longer be able to purchase new eGift cards"…
Looks like they have added more stock.
