  • Owners of this, do you have restart/overheat issue when you're parking your car outdoor during sunny summer say 35-40 degree day?

    • +2

I’ve had two of the 750S and never had an issue with overheating.

The 750X is supposed to be even better again, and doesn’t require a magic pro for parking mode, unless it’s being used in a Hybrid

      • +1

        Sounds promising, thanks

        • 👍

      • What’s the difference if being used in a hybrid? Looking at one for our Rav4 Hybrid

        • If you want to record in parking mode you will need a separate battery as Rav Hybrids go into hibernation mode to conserve battery, and they won’t allow the cam to record whilst parked.

I had a Magic Pro professionally connected to our DR750S and every time we turned the Rav off, it would turn the camera off.

          • @[Deactivated]: I’ve only read other Rav owners experience, but from what I’ve heard it should work. With the power magic don’t you set a voltage limit so that it doesn’t drain the battery. Is it possible yours wasn’t configured properly?

            • @teamfletch: Definitely connected properly, and it did record on parking mode originally for a few minutes and then it would turn off with the ignition.. The guy who fitted it for me, said that it was the first he had done on a Hybrid, and then afterwards mentioned that other installers told him you definitely need a secondary battery

I have the non plus version of this model (the plus is only a few months old). Never had any problems in Sydney summer temps.

    • i had this and parked it outside, didn't have any issues, was kinda annoying reviewing clips tho as they saved 1min at a time for 1080p

      • I wonder if there was something not setup correctly? I don't have that problem?

    • +1

Never had issues with mine and I've had mine installed for 3 years. Best investment I've ever made as I recently recorded evidence of damage caused by another driver

    • +2

      I've got the 750G and 750X.

Both are pretty rock solid and not as susceptible to heat damage as battery-based ones.

    • Absolutely has problems with heat. The 750S stops recording when it overheats. Last time I checked for specific footage in park mode, there was a gap in recording timeline. Also the original camera stopped working withing warranty period and needed to be replaced.

  • Just grabbed one, thanks OP.

      My pleasure mate

  • Any recommended installers in Sydney west? Was quoted $220 for a 2 channel.

    • +1

i got some guy on fb to install mine, think it was 180 for 2ch with the hardwiring kit. was called 'the dashcam guy' or something. Comes to you and takes cash or bank transfer.

was bit over a year ago, not sure if still same price

    • I have a guy that comes to me and has been doing my installs for years.. Where you located ?

    • Just PM’d you my guy

    • +5

If you watch the youtube videos, they're easy to diy. I knew nothing about car installations before finding the vids. Use fuse taps or add-a-fuse connectors to make life easy for yourself

      • Do you need to purchase a wiring kit as well?

        • No wiring kit needed as the x/x-plus models come with both hardwire and cigarette plug wires. You just need to buy the right fuse taps for your car which can vary between manufacturers. You may also need trim removal tools but you might not need it.

          • @8azinga: There's a squidger in the box, which was the only tool i needed other than a pair of pliers to attach the fuse taps to the end of the wires.

            • @CacheHunter: The tool blackvue supplies is very soft plastic and some cars require something more substantial or a particular shape to remove plugs. There are ways around it and can be done without them but much easier with the correct trim tool.

  • Anyone got a good place in Melbourne where I can get this installed?

    • Can anyone help out for Melb folks ?

    • +2

My mate runs MJP Autoview and he does heaps of them in Melbourne

  • +1

    Might grab, thanks OP

    • You’re welcome mate

  • looking around for a dash cam i came across 70mai DashCam Pro Plus+
seems to offer something similar for a fraction half the price if anyone is interested
the next model up is the A800S that does 4k
below is a comparison with the blackvue dr900s

  • Have a Dr750s which overheated and died. Was hard-wired with the power magic kit.

Will this DR750X fit in the same mount and also take the same power connection?

Would be good to avoid rewiring again

    • I think you have to rewired to the power magic pro as think i remember reading something was different with the power connection. Cant confirm though and could be wrong. At least that's generally the easier part compared to having to do the fuse taps again.

      • +1

The 750x plus wires directly into the car fuse box, so no need for the power magic pro, though i recall reading that you can still use it as an alternative.

        • +2

Pretty sure you can still use the PMP with these if you want and since Owl said he had a PMP installed, there is no point in removing it. This also gives you the option to turn parking mode on/off without having to access the camera through the app.

  • Thanks for this. Have been doing research on dash cams for the past couple of days. Finally decided on either the 750X Plus or 900X Plus, this deal just made the decision so much easier!!

    • No problem mate..

Don’t forget to grab a 128 Samsung Pro Endurance SD card, as they are compatible with Blackvue and are much more cost effective than the Blackvue style.

    • The 900X seems to be on sale also. Thoughts on if the 4K option is worth it? I’m trying to decide as well.

      • I wasn’t fussed as the 4K footage would use huge memory on the SD card

        • Both this and the DR900X plus give the same recording time using the highest setting. You can check it here

      • There is a new DR900x Plus coming out. It is out already overseas. You can buy it direct from blackvue as they ship to AU and is about $620-640 delivered using the 0% off code that was posted in one of the other threads and depending on what exchange rate you get.
The plus looks worth the wait. There are comparison videos online between plus/non plus models and even between 750 x plus and 900 x plus and it picks number plates better.

    • it shows DR750PLUS-2CH-32. Is to different to DR750 'X' PLUS?

Just want to make sure that its a same model.

      Thanks

    • +1

      That’s a different model

      • Thanks

      • You sure? Seems like it's just a website error in not listing the 'x' as I don't think there is just a DR750 plus model.

        • They are both listed on their site side by side

          • @[Deactivated]: Not sure what you mean by having both listed side by side. Got links showing what you mean? It still seems like a website title error for the DR750X Plus. It says Plus and that should make it the DR750X Plus. They have the older DR750X and DR750S models listed separately as well so it wouldn’t be those making it more likely to be the DR750 X plus.
They have a DR750X Plus in the 64gb model as well but the one linked was for 32GB.

    • I can confirm this was the DR750X-PLUS model.
