Grab a piece of Air Australia from Grays Auction [QLD]

Well, not the planes or the millions owed to creditors but some of the random things around the office.

Apparently, A320 stairs to deplane, airsick bags, pillows and other useful items were auctioned off in an earlier sale

  • When Ansett went under, my ex hubby and I were one of about 20 who "invested" in skywest which was spun off by the liquidators. Always glad we did. My XH, did all the numbers on the assets and reckoned that we would not go down too far even in a firesale, due to the value of the aircraft, etc. Our naighbour, a supposed big wheeler couldn't believe we invested over $100k in that, but we felt it was our duty. We sold out a few years later. I think it was Singaporeans who ended up wih it at that point. We made nothing, but knew that air service in the northern WA regional areas was crucial. It is sad to see airlines go under.

I flew strategic once and was very impressed. When the entertainment system on the flight to Bali went down, it was a free open bar. Even an AM flight with WA folks could send an airline broke with free grog.

  • I can't buy the airsick bags?

    Dang.

  • Lots of LCD monitors and Lenovo thinkpads / thinkcentres to grab — not half bad.

  • re Lenovo Thinkcentre and Thinkpad pcs on Grays, should probably put QLD in title as it says "Deliver to: Pickup Only QLD"<-might be a bit of useful info for those interested….

    • OK, I will but these Grays auctions tend to not be that great as they add a buyer's premium. More of an auction of interest rather a bargain.

  • We had a print and copy place next door to us go into administration, we looked at the grays auction listing, things sold for well above eBay prices, was stupid. When it's grays people bid so high :-/

    • +1

I don't really think Grays people are bidding them up. I regularly attend auctions in Melbourne on the weekend ones at Grays and sometimes people get sucked into bidding. I have seen fridges sell at Grays for more than you can get them at Goodguys or Harvey Norman. I don't think Grays need to have people bid them up as there are enough people doing that as it is.

      • I went to edit my post, I was meant to have a comma after "grays, people bid so high"

I do want the 300 model planes though!

        • thats ok! Some people just bid for the sake of it at the auctions! The models are pretty good though!
