Haven’t seen a price like this on the Tacx Neo series in many years - they’re usually on the exclusions list in any sales. The non-cyclists will point out it’s expensive, but if you’re in the market for one of these, you know what it is and its reputation. Enjoy! ;-)

As in, "ridiculously high"?
@mrau hence my “non-cyclist” comment.
RRP is $2k on these and they’ve had little incentive to discount with lockdown demand and supply issues. Haven’t seen one more than 15% off in the last two years.
Extra 5% with 99bikes price match?
I take my cycling pretty seriously, usually do around 5 training sessions a week of 1.5 hour each. Never understood the point of those indoor trainers. Is this so that you can watch TV? Train under air condition? A bit like a treadmill… Never understood it, always ran in the park.
I am not saying it is bad or anything like that, just trying to understand the benefit. Many reasons why some (not myself) prefer indoor trainers including:
Safety, especially for females when dark during winter.
Weather, not everyone has moderate weather all year round.
Structured training sessions.
Zwift app lets you ride with people all over the world.I see… Pass, thanks.
I use it over winter so I don't need to ride out in the cold outdoors - Lycra isn't very warm after all… (I do have winter gear but haven't found anything decent, especially to keep my hands warm). It's also safer since early morning winter rides in Melbourne are in the dark outdoors.
There's also training plans on Zwift, as I honestly can't be bothered to arrange my own plans - also way too much hassle trying to find a good stretch of road that isn't filled with potholes, and doesn't have interruptions like junctions, traffic lights, roundabouts, rail crossings, zebra crossings, etc. It's also very flat where I live and Zwift can simulate climbing (don't need the Kickr Climb).
Of course right now over summer, I'm riding outside, but the indoor trainer definitely has its benefits (you can pause your Zwift subscription at any time).
Also, the pros use it for their training and recovery too. The legendary Mathew Hayman won Paris Roubaix infamously through an indoor training regime. Of course, you "take your cycling pretty seriously" so you knew about that already…
Is this worth the $500 more than the Tacx Flux 2 for a novice…?
I currently have an old wheel-on and it is noicy as hell so looking for something quieter..
Do you have a trainer tyre as they are supposed to be quieter?
https://www.bikebug.com/tyres-and-tubes/trainer-tyres/Yep, gone through a couple of normal tyres before switching to trainer tyres. They are OK, but still very noicy..
I can't say if it is worth the extra $500. But I have owned a neo for a couple years, and it is fantastic. I use it for casual exercise a couple times a week (just 20-40 minutes), on zwift. The Neo has very strong resistance on the steep climbs, whisper quiet, works faultlessly, excellent build quality and the road surface feel is a lot of fun :)
At the time I purchased it, the Flux had only recently been released and there were numerous reports about reliability issues. I decided to go with the Neo which had a good reputation, I think I paid $1700 at Pushys, and it is in my top 10 pride and joy items I own. They May have fixed the Flux reliability issues since then.
is a bike included with this price?
Good deal on a well-reviewed trainer. I’d buy if I hadn’t bought the reconditioned Wahoo Kickr posted on OZB a few weeks ago.
I have this trainer. This is a great price. Solid trainer, gives good road feel.
best smart trainer imo, used in the Superleague Triathlon Arena games
Thank you OP! Price matched at 99bikes!!
cracking price
