SugarSync - 2GB Bonus for 20 Friend Referrals [Limited Offer]

41

Hey people,

I've just successfully walked though the 20 friend referral process and scored an extra 2GB, despite one of the conditions stating:

This feature is rolling out today for U.S. users

I'm a long time account holder of SugarSync but aside from that I didn't tinker with address details or proxies to get this working. Logged into my account for the first time in a long time and it gave me 375MB "just cuz" and offered the 2GB referral as detailed in the linked page.

If people are finding it doesn't work, please use the report option and let the mods know this deal needs to be moved into the forums.

Maybe this might be an alternative for the people who got stung on the Dropbox hack?

There's no details on an expiry aside from it's a 'limited offer'. Please report it expired if you notice that to be the case.

  • I see, in contrast to Dropbox, those 20 don't actually need to sign up for the service in order for you to get your 2G bonus.

  • I'm liking the look of this new one I found www.symform.com they say it's all encrypted
10gb free signup and 10gb added per referral user you sign up.

Also if you contribute space you can get 200gb since I'm on an unlimited plan I'm thinking about it.

    • Looks so dodgy…
It even has 'testimonial' on the front page

    2gb for 20 referrals is not a deal …

    • As 'biltz' mentioned, it's not required that those 20 referrals do anything. Heck you don't even have to give it legit emails if you want to bypass the system by adding fake email addresses into your address book prior to requesting the 2GB. As soon as you submit the 20 email addresses the 2GB is yours.

Personally I've put 10x more effort into deals that have gotten me less then this.

    • got a better deal with sugarsync?

      Dropbox /= Sugarsync

Surely a little better explanation is required. You at least owe that to this sharing community.

    • ok, why is dropbox != sugersync?!
      (genuinely curious)

IMO it doesn't matter that you can fake the addressees, I judge this deal as intended. It might be my opinion only, but to me trading 20 email addresses for 2gb is not worth it.. I value my friends privacy more than that. That is why I negged.
Note that to me this is different than dropbox, true you need people to sign up, but potentially you could earn allot of storage (sitting on nearly 12gb, totally legit myself).

There if also allot of competition on this market and quite a few good free ones (looked at sugar sync a while back and the paid for storage was a bit dear).
I'm currently on my mobile, but if anyone is interested in other good options let me know and I'll post the ones I'm familiar with when I'm next to a computer.

The guy who referred me has around 50GB of storage

        • thanks for that!

I knew Sugersync allows multiple folder sync, but did not know they offer potentially unlimited storage.
Do you know what is required in order to get to the magnitude of tens of free GB? I currently have around 12gb of Dropbox, and cannot imagine myself reaching the dropbox limit. Very possibly by the time I do the limit would be lifted.

As an aside, their paid plans look pretty expensive at $150 py for 100gb (although Dropbox is even more expensive at $200). If those things were more reasonably priced I would happily fork the money just for the ability to sync large amounts of data (my music collection) between my machines, right now I spend a ridiculous amount of time doing it manually (carrying hard drives around and perfoming manual syncs).

  • I suggest that if you submit fake email addresses you won't get the bonus data.

    • Mine were 50/50, legit and known old/dead addresses. As I stated in the OP, I have the extra 2GB. From what I can see there isn't any verification on these email addresses. Once the 20 addresses are submitted, you have the extra 2GB instantly.

  • I…think I'll stick with Box.net. (Mainly because I don't need syncing..) Though at least the 20 don't all have to sign up, you just have to spam them. XD
