heard you need to buy extra accessories to make the experience enjoyable, any thoughts?
Not necessary:
Well summarised
I think the link cable is a must if you're buying the Oculus Quest 2 (3rd party cables are cheaper than Offical Oculus one, though do your research). Allows you to play proper PC VR games on your Quest, I believe you can also stream PC VR games over wifi? Not sure how that experience is. Everything else is more like quality of life for comfort or longer battery life.
Oculus gives streaming out of the box with PC so you don't need the cable. Haven't got the cable so can't compare quality but the flexibility is great. Make sure you're WiFi meets specs.
Worked better then the cable for me virtual desktop was great
Yeah as good as virtual desktop now, but prefer VD simpler UI
If you need glasses, you might find the fit to be uncomfortable even with the included spacer. I found it to be much more comfortable with a different head strap.
If you want to level-up from that, try getting dedicated prescription lenses. My VR Wave ones are in the mail. VR Optician seem to have the best reviews, but postage to Australia is hideous. That seems to be the case for most brands.
You'll need your PD measurement, which can be tricky to get. You can use the online tool at Specsavers. Measure it a bunch of times in different lighting conditions and average it out. Most glasses shops won't want to help you because they don't want to lose business to online sellers. You could see a dedicated optometrist. Or do what I did and just say it's for VR lenses. Shops don't offer these, so they shouldn't perceive any competitive threat.
Worth noting that you still require an oculus account linked to facebook to use this.
Weeks after the announcement to phase this out: https://www.ign.com/articles/oculus-facebook-requirement-end…

Are these things really worth it is you don't have a pc to connect it to and will only be using it standalone? Only so much beat saber you can play, surely…
Resident evil 4 is amazing too
Absolutely it is. Sure, having a powerful enough PC opens it up even more but quite a few of the games are available natively on the Oculus store and I think that'll become more and more common. I heard the Quest 2 has sold ~10 million now, versus the Vive's 50-100 thousand. So games being developed with Quest 2 in mind are only going to be more common.
Surely that 10 million can't be correct… I'd be surprised if they had actually sold 1 million (still a decent effort)
The cost of the Quest 2 is genuinely amazing value for what it delivers - they're selling them at a loss for a reason, successfully dominating the VR space.
It does seem crazy I know, but a few articles are mentioning that number. So…I guess sooo? It's based on Qualcomm who are partnered with Meta and produce the Snapdragon chipset. Sounds like they're basing it on manufacturing vs actual sales. Although I'm sure Meta wouldn't keep asking them to make more if it wasn't selling.
Who knows really. All I know is I'm able to visit VR and it's amazing! :P
Yes, movies and social is also great.
So many games as well… id recommend it.
Yes between Oculus Store, App Lab and SideQuest there's now easily 20-40+ decent standalone games, apps and experiences depending on your interests. I started with VR gaming but now spend more time simply watching stuff in a virtual cinema (SkyboxVR).
I also recommend not missing out on the $47 store credit. There's an official referral page on here for it.
Worth it for Walkabout mini golf by itself :P
Yes worth every cent and then some for mine especially if you're a sports nut. Cricket, table tennis, golf, boxing etc just awesome. Graphics wise it's very much cartoony still for the most part but the game physics, tracking, gameplay and immersion etc all pretty much close to spot on.
Also quick and easy to set up and get going no fiddling around with wires, camera, controllers, console, TV, headphones etc. So you'll actually end up using it frequently as opposed to say something like the PSVR. Just turn it on and it's ready to go anytime and anywhere.
Hey folks, I just noticed that Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is today's deal and %18 off at $40.94
Just snaffled it.

Couldn't be bothered to faff with VPN, so my sincere apologies as I know this is a borderline OzBargain cardinal sin. Please forgive me.
The 128gb model is not at the sale price anymore..? WTF.
128GB back to $479 again :-O
Ok, anyone know why the 128GB deal has suddenly ended?
Let me call bezos and ask where is your space ship, Jeff?
I am him.
Can I upgrade to the 256gb one, give my dad my 64gb one, and swap the accounts over, and keep the referral credit?
What happened to the 128gb deal :(
Is it necessary to go for 256gb which still have the deal?
no need for 256.
