  • Excuse the dumb question: Do they plug into a 240 volt standard electricity outlet and get connected to a portable gas bottle?

    • two D size batteries … looks like it's just used to power the LED screen (and maybe a basic ignition)

      • 12v water pump is optional

        • You'd only need the pump if you we rent connecting to mains I figure?

Edit: just realised every 2nd q below is about the pump

  • Op - I am wanting to install one of these inside a cool room - is it a suitable environment for this particular product?

      States Outdoor use only!

      • Interesting. Thought the elements outdoors would be worse? 🤔

        • +4

          Carbon monoxide is a killer.
          Recommended use as camping shower.

… Except delivery date is 4th Jan, which is back to work for many people.

hmmm, looks useful for outdoor showers while getting the bathroom renovated.

    • That's exactly what we did recently. Not this particular model but same concept.

      • How did you mount the heater? We just bought one for our bathroom reno in January, just wondering where to put it.

        • +1

I made a temporary set up in our carport.
Screwed a length of left over decking timber across the posts to mount the heater on a hook, and to screw in the shower head mount.
Tarp across the open end of the carport for privacy. Grabbed a couple of rubber mats from Bunnings to stand on and the carport has decent drainage so just let the water run off.
I probably over engineered a bit as the bathroom was going to take close to a month and needed to keep the missus and kids happy.
If it was just me would have been just a hose and a bucket.

          • @helpdesk: Was thinking of mounting mine on the wooden patio post too, but was afraid that the heater would get too hot for it.

Did you notice the decking timber/surrounding area getting very hot?

  • Is the pump required to operate if we don’t have mains/pressured water?
Can I just drop the intake hose into a bucket of water or is the pump needed?

    • +1

You need a pump or pipe with water coming out of it.

    • +1

      pump is needed

  • Have asked the seller:

I like the concept but I'm confused.
How is the pump powered? Yes its 12 volts but is there a power outlet built in to the heater for the pump or do we have to connect 12V power e.g. car battery?

    • I think it’s 12V to cigarette lighter. What I’m confused on is ,does it require the pump to operate? Since for some models, pump is optional.
What happens when there is no pump. How does water intake work?

      • +3

On mains water = no pump… no mains water you'd need the pump to push the water though the heater…

The pump would need to be connected to a 12v supply, I use the same pump in my campervan.. They have a pressure switch in them so the pump turns on and off as you turn the water flow on and off…

  • +1

It appears the water intake can has hose style connector. The pump is probably for scenarios where you don't have water pressure from tank/mains/existing pump.

handy if you can’t afford to own a house or afford rental and living out of a car ….. beats the cold shower at the change rooms at the beach ….

  • +1

How long can this provide hot water from a 9kg gas bottle? Also how hot does it actually get, could you use it to heat water for a small house/caravan or is it one outlet only?
