  • Ordered! I don't have a straight C charger, so this should do the trick.

Reviews seem questionable. Iā€™d rather buy genuine Apple charger.

    • +11

I would rather buy recognised third party personally

      • +1

Any suggestions for a reputable third party?

        • +8

          Anker

        • +4

Anker is good, I also like baseus chargers

        • +2

I'm using Cygnet and it's not bad.

        • Samsung ones are good too and around $20 from memory

  • +3

i think they had a 2 pack a few days ago for the same price, and also a questionable product. lol

    • +3

      Why is it questionable?

I use this 2x charger with my S21U at home and work and haven't had an issue

      • Which port do you use the QC3 USB-A or the USB-C port?

  • Can I use this with Android (asking for a old person)ā€¦

  • +5

The 2 pack is $12.49 with this coupon deal.

    • Thanks, ordered the two 2Pac. Can never have too many of these and nice and small for travelling (whatever that is!)

      • +3

2Pac is dead, sorry to be bearer of bad news

        • +1

          Machiavellian is coming back!

  • Thanks OP, questionable but for $8, worth the risk as a spare. Will try and then report back.

    • +15

So let me get it straight, it's "questionable" but because it's cheap you're going to risk your $1K phone with it?

      • +5

You nailed the thought process of ozbargainers.

      • +3

Precisely. Gotta risk it for the biscuit. What could possibly go wrong?

        • +2

          Fire?

        • +4

Connecting charger to the phone won't tell you anything. You need put it under load and use oscilloscope to see pulsations and after that try put it into overcurrent to see when and how it cuts off.

These go good… got 2+USB-C lighting charging cable for $17 in July.

Use one to charge iPhone and old iPad and the other to charge PS5 controller and PS4 Gold Headset.

  • +5

Quick review: Yes these are cheap and cheerful but charge at the advertised rate. Love that there's two ports when needed and flexibility of usb c or a. No problems with 2 pixel phones and 1 iphone so far.

  • Was wondering, when you plug them in is there a little yellow/green/orange light? I find these so annoying at night time.

    • +1

      No light on them.

Can't u just put a sticker over it?

    • +2

I find blu-tack handy for this kind of issue.

      • I use blue tack too. Or a nikko / dab of nail polish

  • Hey, what am I missing here?

If these chargers provide high charging to phones, how come my Pixel can only charge at its max available regardless of what charger it is?

Let's take my cable, for example. Its Pixel supplied charger provides this ___ amount. But if I use a Gen 2 cable, the charge rate is still the same as the Pixel charger's. If I use a different device, its charging rate is different. Thus, it makes me wonder about these high charge adapters because it seems to work on some devices.

Mobile devices control the charging themselves, it's not an uncontrolled flood of electrons from the charger.
Think tap - hose - nozzle, you can limit flow with a half closed tap or kinked hose even when nozzle is fully open. However even if tap is fully open and hose is huge the nozzle can only allow a trickle.
That's why it better to have over -specced charger and high ampage cable.

      • Yes, I think I see that analogy. But if mobile devices control the charging, why would you need to buy an over specced charger? I'd expected the device will only provide the max charging rate regardless, or is there something I'm missing from the analogy again? Are you saying I need a more robust, bigger tap to complement the gen2 hose so the nozzle can open to a stream?

        • If either the tap (charger) or hose (cable) aren't up to the task, this could be inferior quality or damaged goods, then maximum current can't be supplied. Over spec'd is good for this reason.

        • why would you need to buy an over specced charger?

You don't. People buy extra chargers to use as spares, or for work or wherever their secondary office is. Also 20W isn't over-specced, it's standard for most small devices these days. Some of the older or cheaper devices won't charge at the full 20W, so they will automatically throttle it back and only draw as much as they're designed for.

Also note that quick chargers don't charge at their max rate the whole time, they charge the quickest when the device has a near-empty battery, then they switch to trickle charge once the battery approaches 80-100% charge. This is to limit thermals and to preserve the working life of the battery.

Having said that, sometimes people do buy bigger chargers (e.g. 30W, or 60W, or even 100W) so that they can charge multiple types of devices — those can do laptops, tablets, phones etc. Some of those bigger chargers may have 2 or more ports, so you can charge multiple devices at the same time.

I personally like 30W chargers, they're the sweet spot for compact portability while still being able to charge all the portable devices I own, including a MacBook Pro.

Got the 2 pack, Thx op

    Time to order cables
Then time to order new phone
    Then the loop starts šŸ˜”

  • must have just missed it, stuck at full price in cart

    • +1

Nope, im just a noob and didnt click the coupon button further down on the main page under "Special offers and product promotions"

  • Anymore love for YESDEX heymix 65w? It's now $35 from the same seller.

  • Would these be faster than using like a 65w PD charger for my Iphone?

    • +4

No, Apple don't use QC3 so phone will not charge any faster.

  • I dont suppose this does super fast charging on samsungs? (25W)

    • +1

You need PD 3.0 compatible charger for that. Saying that, the best thing you can do for your phone's battery is disable Fast Charge and do slow 0.5-1A overnight charge.

      • Or you could just use a non-fast charge cable, right? I use a not fast charge compatible cable on my Pixel 5 when I want a slow charge. Does the job.

        • Yes, cable without data lines can do same trick but it's probably harder to find. Samsung phones have option to disable fast charge in menus, not sure about others.

  • Back to full price

    • Agree, I didn't see any coupon / reduced price

      • last 2 deals sold out quickly - must have had a small allotment for free advertising

  • +3

I'd avoid these. I bought two of these on the last deal and they have both failed, providing no current to anything you plug in.

  • Can this charge a chromebook?

  • Not expired. Still works for me. Thanks OP

  • +1

Looks like this deal is sold out.

Any other suggestions for a high power charger? I want to use it with a Pinecil soldering iron.

    • You need at least 60W charger for that so look at laptop power bricks, maybe second hand on ebay.

  • I bought 2 pack but only 1 arrived. am contacting amazon customer service now :(

  • I guess I was expecting a little too much for this to be able to charge both USB-C and USB-A at high-current simultaneously.
iPhone plugged into USB-C and iPad plugged into USB-A results in repeated 'ding' noises from both devices losing power and resetting charging.
