  • Saw this recently while browsing the clearance section for tools. Good value for Bowdens fans.

  • Seems to be most products so my guess is they're going to stop stocking the 5l packs and just stick to the retail bottles.

  • -1

Many of their products aren't good but what I picked up was:

Snow job (still on the fence about this stuff, doesn't clean very well, suppose this is why Mega snow job is out now.)
Wheely clean (not as good as Meguiar's ultimate wheel cleaner)
    Orange agent
    Nanolicious

Such as? I haven't used all of their products but the ones I have used have easily been good as or better than the other retail stocked brands.

    • +2

If they are not good, why did you still buy it?

      • It's cost effective but I do prefer other brands like Auto Finesse, G Techniques and Poorboys.

        They're night and day difference.

    • Agree with your comments on Wheely Clean vs Meguiar's but the latter is not on special as often.

Funny you should mention Meguiar's and "on special"

        • Yes I see that, but last time I bought it was <$18

      • Especially with brake dust, Meguiar's is a lot better.

Well yeah coz its suppose to be a prewash that your suppose to do every week to minimise swirl marks that is followed by a hand wash, also meant to be done every week….and is better than just hosing your car down with water.

      • Yes, I understand how to wash a car haha. My car even has G techniques ceramic coating. Other brands are far superior but twice the price.

        • Other brands are far superior but twice the price.

I think that's a pretty broad statement. Some products, certainly better, but if you actually find comparisons (which is difficult given Bowdens Own is only available locally compared to others) these tops shelf brands often perform far worse despite their boutique prices and claims. Even the much maligned Turtle Wax has lately produced products that outperform some of these supposedly superior products.

Add in the fact you'll generally pay as much for shipping one of those products as you would for widely available Bowdens products off the shelf and I think for 99% of people Bowdens Own is the better choice.

EDIT: Oh, and with Bowdens Own you're also supporting Australian made and owned products.

Yeah, local autobarn was trying to upsell me their new 303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating for $50 saying its better than any ceramic or wax and will even beat both of them combined together! It will also hide (or almost hide them anyways) those nasty swirl marks you see when the sunlight hits your scratched up paint job. Has the added effect that once applied it will give that nice water droplet effect if the car's exterior gets rained on. Told me this, that he uses it on his car that I should get one if I wanted to make my car look pristine, shiny and protected, and that all I need to apply this on with is a drop bear to the exterior, including glass, plastics, vinyls and anything else on the other side of your car. One side to spray the liquid on and the other side to buff the cured surfaced, once it's cured.

If you're finding they're not cleaning properly, it's one of three things…
      1) The car is ridiculously dirty and you should probably clean it more often
      2) You're not using the product correctly or
      3) You don't have adequate protection on the car (using a good sealant, wax or ceramic coat will make the car much easier to clean).

      • G techniques ceramic coating. Crystal serum Ultra with 9 year warranty.

I'd recommend other brands over bowdens. Try Scholl concepts and compare the difference.

To get the same level of clean you'd have to wash it 2 or 3 times with bowdens. With Scholl 1 clean and clay bar and it's perfect.

Only product I haven't tried from them is Boss Gloss it's meant to be ok for the price.

        • +1

Can't really compare a wash to a wash and clay but if you're claying often, something is probably wrong or you should change where you park the car.

  • Thanks OP. Grabbed a Nanolicious.😉

  • Nanolicious and snow job. And two pump handles.

    Should last a lifetime

    • You'll be surprised, I've gone thru a 5L of Snow pretty quickly but we have a few cars between the family

      • I've not measured how much the Bowdens foam cannon uses each fill.
One use, just does my dual cab ute all the way round. (No canopy) to empty

        • It holds a litre, should be putting 100ml of Snow Job in there with 900ml of water. I can do a large SUV like a CX9 with 1/2 to 3/4 of a cannon

  • Are these premix, just in a large container? If so, there a few better options for concentrate products, E.g. Meguiar’s glass cleaner concentrate in a 3.8L pack (equivalent to 40L mixed product) for $50 delivered on eBay.

  • Grabbed nanolicious ty

  • Just got a call from local repco store in Brisbane and was advised that Snow Job is out of stock in all qld locations so they canceled my order

  • +1

Any thoughts on how Nanolicious compares to Meguiar's Gold Class Car Wash ?

    • wondering the same thing. Although I picked up Gold Class on special for $20 the other week. When it goes on special again 3 of those is over 5L and only $60.

    • +3

Bowdens is vastly better IMO which is why I switched from using Meguairs almost exclusively for decades to mostly Bowdens Own products. In addition Meguiars still include salt in all their wash products. Many of their products are "old school" and still follow traditional rather than modern chemical trends. Try leaving a few drops on some bare metal and see what happens. Of course there's not much bare metal on a car but still….

    • +1

Maguires products aren't any good. I mean they used to be decent but the competition is now far better. The only Maguires product I'd consider using is the soft wash gel.

Put it this way - it's not Armourall bad but Maguire's Gold Glass wash is not something I'd recommend to anyone, even when it's on special

Personally I like Duragloss products (fantastic bang for buck) but bought a couple of these to try (Boss Gloss as a detail spray and Orange Agent, everything else I'm well stocked up on)

    • I landed on Nano last time I looked into this, but can't recall much of the discussion.

  • Grabbed some Orange Agent, cleaned my engine up last weekend with it and it works great. Cheers OP

    • Orange Agent… sounds like a monsanto product…

      • +1

I would have thought Orange Agent to be the Aldi equivalent of a Monsanto product…

        • +1

Well when stocking up for a war, it pays to shop around….. I guess?!?

  • Bowden's Own Pumpy Pump 5 Litre Bottle - $9
    Bowden's Own Orange Agent 5L - $39
    Bowden's Own Wheely Clean V2 5L - $96
    Bowden's Own Lazy Wax 5L - $91
    Bowden's Own Fully Slick 5L - $60
    Bowden's Own Microfibre Wash 5L - $42

A quick search indicates these are pretty decent prices, specially the under $50 ones. I've arranged it in order of how I'd user them. Orange to clean stubborn muck/engine bay. Wheely Clean for all four wheels.
Carnauba wax based Lazy Wax post wash. Fully slick to seal. I can use this for all my maintenance washes, can't I?
Should any be changed or omitted? I have all of these in the standard bottle size though.

    • +1

Check out Bowden's site, they have a flowchart for either wax or ceramic, and with the optional steps clearly marked

      • Yea, thanks, they haven't updated it for over a year. I guess I'll just go with the flow and dump $400 on this order.

        • Fully slick only lasts a week or two as a sealant. It's not on sale but you'd be better off with Bead Machine IMO. I no longer have the desire to spend a heap of time detailing the car so my monthly routine has been Wheely Clean if required, Snow Foam prewash, hand wash with Wax Wash, seal with Happy Ending and dry off with After Glow.

Orange Agent is a once or twice a year thing. Boss Gloss or Clean Detail for removing things like bird poo between washes.

          • @apsilon: After glow, good for hard water areas?
Our local water is full of calcium and water stains are prolific

            • @Spending2Much: Not an issue I've had but Bowdens do say it works even with hard water.

              • @apsilon: Already spent a bucket load, might as well get another one to pick up….

          • @apsilon: I can't find a Bead Machine 5L,but I do have the equivalent in Megs.

            • @lordra: If you look at longevity tests on Youtube etc you'll find the Megs is nowhere near equivalent.

        • +1

          Nah, there's a 2021 version

  • The glass cleaner makes a good ‘shisha’ alternative.

  • I'm a car cleaning noob. Would you use the snow wash with a snow cannon then do a hand wash with another product?

    • Yes, the snow foam is a pre wash. You can get away with using the snow foam alone if you're doing it weekly etc and a full wash monthly.

  • I really like the After Glow product for drying the car. Quite different to other drying stuff I have used - you use it on a damp microfibre cloth & it leaves a really glossy finish & lasts a very long time. Good beading when wet too. I think the damp cloth minimises risks of scratching too. Good video on the Bowdens website.
Interested if anyone else has used this or how it compares with other products.

  • Order cancelled.

    • No stock?
Picked mine up today, grabbed half a dozen bottles

      • What did you get?

        • +1

          Snow Job
          Orange Agent
          Microfibre wash
          Boss Gloss
          Fabracadabra
          Wipe Out

Already have a few other 5L bottles so just got the ones I use the most

      • +1

Ordered 5L Snow job last night to be picked up at Cannington WA. Received cancellation email in the morning that no stock. So I have just reordered from another store. Let's see if that works. :)

  • Game over I think.

    • +2

Yep, all 5litre bottles are off the website.
I was umming and ahhing about getting a 5l bottle of the After Glow.
Had it sitting in the cart.

      Nothing on website at all.
