    Important Note: You must be switching an active service. If you switch a prepaid sim and do not use it - SMSFun may deem that you do not qualify for the promotion.

    • depends, if your SIM are with $0 credit. You might not be able to registered at SMSfun.com.au

      • I think active simply means that they can check that the number is with Telstra (in this example) and working (that you can receive calls and SMSes for example). They can't find out how much credit is in the account, can they?

  • So if I buy a $2 voda sim, activate it, send an SMS or two and then port to a $10 Optus prepaid I get $90 in vouchers?

  • $2 SIM might not be able to register an account at SMSfun.com.au
    I used those $10 telstra starter kit to start off, and $2 optus for switching.

    I tried to use an expired turbo charged telstra SIM, and I didnt get a code for registering SMSFUN.com.au.

    • Where does it talk about the end date of the comp? The link to T&C doesn't have an end date and it only mentions being the 50th, 150th etc customer.

      • 1 day after you registered at smsfun.com.au with a non-optus SIM, you will get a BIG pop up advertisement for the optus switching - 1000 joobz with "last chance, extended until 30 april 2012" written on it.

        If you registered with optus SIM, you will get another advertisement…

      • No, you purchase a $2 telstra voda or 3 sim and activate it. Then you port that number to optus (you will still need an optus sim for that part though.

    • ur initial $10 prepaid needs to be telstra/vodaphone/or 3……… and yes if you port it to a pre-paid optus sim with credits you will get your reward

  • So I have a number of Telstra SIMs which are still active but have zero credit. They will receive calls and SMSes but there is no credit available for sending them. I can port one of these to Optus right?

    Now what is the cheapest way of getting an Optus Account? Just buy a $2 SIM from an Optus World Store and activate that?

    • yes but i suggest you recharge $10 to the optus account so you meet the terms and condition so they can't ripp you off the rewards after doing so much work of registering and porting!

    i got my $90 worth of giftcards in the feburary round and i reffered 3 people in march. 2 of them got stuffed around by smsfun demanding they provide proof they were with vodafone, proof they are now with optus and photo identification. the other one got it but only because she took optus to TIO because they voided her sim card and alsmost lost her ported number which she couldnt use for several weeks.

    I dont think its worth doing this anymore. I guess they got ozbargained and they are doing everything to prevent you from getting your rewards now.

    • yes if you do something wrong, they will try to pick it up and not give you the reward now……

      • nothing was done wrong. they say their system just did not recognize that the phones were with vodafone previously. which it did and its print screened for proof and their system is registering it as ported to optus but they are still asking for proof of this and asking for photo id aswell.

        I was quite skeptical at first about this whole website/referral thing….. but it actually does give out good prizes ($90 giftcard instantly) after mucking around with them for the registering then porting

    Best way to get the SMSFUN transfer is to

    1) buy a $2 sim it must be a major telco eg Telstra or vodaphone or 3 : I got vodaphone

    2) register for smsfun - click on the banner to say you want to transfer and they check you number to see what company you are with and know it is 'vodaphone'

    3) after 2-3 days then CALL up optus to do the porting - an OPTUS sim card with some credits EG$10 (if you just buy the $2 sim with no credit they can say it is not an active account and not give you the points/suspend your account, so it is a risk you will take)

    4) after a few days the smsfun account will know you have ported, you can check by clicking on the transfer to optus link banner/check network button

    5) another few days you will get sms/email to say the rewards are available, and if you redeem your reward it takes about a week to get.

    I say it all takes 2-3 weeks to complete process / they mostly care that the OPTUS account is active and have credit inside (there is a better value deal this week at coles for optus sim $19 reduce from $30 and you get a longer lasting credit from optus 30 day-6mths depending on your plan, otherwise if you buy the $2 sim add $10 recharge is $12 but only lasts for 7 days)

      Is this true or just speculation? I don't think they have access to your account to find out your balance.

      • They can request optus to audit/verify the account. BC the whole concept is of smsfun is optus is their big marketing customer, so i think they work together

    • You could get the connect 4 less for $10 and credit lasts 90 days, call rates good 23c to landlines and optus mobiles up to 10 min, 10c/min +23 c to other mobile, 10c sms. Or you could have 5 days of unlimited for $10 and then do what you want with it.

        • I got this promo in the email, at the bottom it clearly says

          "To be eligible for this promotion, you must have been a member of SMSFun for 48 hours and switch your SMSFun registered mobile number from Vodafone, Telstra or Three to Optus before 11:59pm Apr 30, 2012. Resellers of any of these networks do not count. Your new Optus service must be an active service and SMSFun will confirm this. "

    • if u are set to get the reward gift, i wouldn't risk wasting time to try and find out it doesn't meet their t&c because lebra is not really a vodafone

  • And by the way, Optus have a $5 month by month (no commitment) post-paid plan.

  • BTW don't try to do too many accounts at the same time from the same household (eg. your whole family) even though the t&c say you can as long as it's different person. They get really skeptical and will suspend the account and you end up with a lot of hassle to get it fixed to get your rewards.

    Buy a vodafone $2 sim, and then transfer to $2 optus sim (with no credit)

    But a vodafone $2 sim, and transfer to a reseller (i used AMAYSIM).

    this deal is 100% legit, and works great :)

    • BUT unless you put some credit on the optus sim and actually use it you're risking running foul of the T & C

      • i dont think they care cos smsfun is not optus, as long as the customer ported, optus pay them, and they pay us.

  • Do optus sims that come with prepaid handsets come with credit?
    Cause I ported from Voda to one of those optus sims and apparently I have $10 rev up bonus… I dont recall recharging

      My 1000 Joobz arent coming up either. I opened a support ticket about it, and they closed the ticket saying that my number was never with Vodafone since the first carrier check (which was about 3-4days after I joined, by then had already ported!). Then asked me to contact a rep with proof that I was with vodafone, so I emailed with photos. Waiting for the joobz and reply.

      Note to new users, print screen every single page related to your to-be-ported phone account!
      Also, to be safe, wait about a week till you port to ensure their stupid system records your non-optus number.

        Did either of you guys port the number pretty much as soon as you signed up to SMSFun?
        There was brief mention of having to be an SMSFun member for 48 hours in an email I got before.

    I ported to Optus ($5 no commitment) on 7/4, number checker showed Optus about a day later, received joobz on 11/4.
    Ordered $90 of Coles group cards on 11/4, received them via Express Post today (17/4).

    Do you really need to wait 48hours after signing up before you can do the porting over.
    I only signed up yesterday, verified my number as being with Vodafone which it curently lists and today I went to optus and got the number ported over.
    Is this going to be a problem?

      Have fun trying to get a reply from "Rebecca" whom you will deal with if you ported "too soon", (even though their system has already recognised you as Vodafone).
      She will be very speedy with replies and then simply stop after you send her what she needs (screen shot from Vodafone account page, and a screen shot from Optus account page).

      Hopefully it wasn't too soon.

      • Ah the infamous "Rebecca", she banned a friend wrongly and it took ages to resolve. I wonder if Rebecca still gets commission from Optus when she disqualifies a successfully tranferred account…

        • They probably just keep all of the commission for the transfer rather than giving it away (1100 joobz worth)

    • Same here, SMSFUN knows my number is with Telstra because I initiated a check and the next time I logged in, I got a popup urging me to switch. Nonetheless I think I will wait another 36+ hours to be safe. I have to go buy an Optus SIM first anyway.

    Transferred to optus on 26/04
    Still not received joobz :(
    Tried to lodge a support ticket with smsfun, but it seems doesn't let me.
    Don't know what to do, is there any other way to contact them?

    It's been 3 days and I haven't received anything back, a bit disappointed.

    Also tried to lodge a support ticket, however, when I click on "help", "support ticket", I put in my mobile and password to log on, it then showes the same screen again.

    Don't know what to do now :(
