Awesome and Cheap Extra Cover Replacement Plans at Officeworks

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Okay so I've just purchased a few items along with extended warrantees from Officeworks, and if you're like me and constantly buying extended warrantees then you'll want to know how cheap they are at Officeworks at the moment. Nearly everything has 1 year and then this is for an extended two, and it's a replacement plan meaning that Officeworks will actually replace the item completely to it's original price rather than sending it away in the first year with is manufacturer.

Did you read through the paperwork yourself or was that told to you by the staff?

Retail staff really don't give a toss about what they tell you when it comes to extended warranty.

EDIT: Didn't see the link to the T&C. Taking a look

    Also, this isn't a bargain.

meaning that Officeworks will actually replace the item completely to it's original price rather than sending it away in the first year with is manufacturer.

    How to Make a Claim?
If You are claiming before the Manufacturer's Warranty has expired, please contact the manufacturer for processing of Your claim. Contact information for manufacturer can be found in the warranty and support section in the initial warranty card provided when You purchase Your Product.

    • One of the staff members gave me a business card outlining the prices, and I was basically told everything I outlined, confirmed a supervisor or manager of some sort who was working the check outs at the time.

      • Don't listen to them tbh, always read the T&C.

Officeworks first started their warranty push in 2005~ as they recognised it's pretty much 80% profit. The amount of BS I've heard coming from the mouths of staff members (even managers) was way beyond irresponsible. Aside from not reading the warranty T&Cs, everyone made up their own story about the warranty, just to push for warranties. The boggling thing was that officeworks staff at the time do not get paid commission (only the managers), so I'd point the blame at irresponsible management.

See my highlighted text above, the T&Cs from your link clearly state that replacement warranty only kicks in AFTER the manufacturer's warranty. (Officeworks chairs are an exception as it's mostly home-brand anyway). So that manager is telling porkies.

Nothing wrong with extended warranty, just never rely on staff to tell you the truth. This goes for all retailers (the warranty company is used by other retailers as well).

<- Ex staff who moved up the ranks within 4 years of employment at aforementioned retailer

      • extended warranties are big business nowadays and the push them as much as they can. the $$$ retailers make on extended warranties is much more than the margins they make on goods.

  • Not exactly a bargain, but thanks for posting anyway - I was never aware that they had a plan like that.

  • 351-500 - 70

70 extended warranty for $351 purchase = nearly 20% of your purchase!

  • Beware for office chairs, warranty only covers 'mechanical faults' i.e. your chair could tear, squeak like crazy and it won't be covered. Only if the gas strut fails.
