Preowned XBOX 360 20GB $98 at EB Games with Shipping $10.44 to Melbourne CBD

391

Preowned XBOX 360 consoles at EBgames. Check website for in-store stock to avoid shipping charges.
Shipping charges may vary for your location. I think EBgames provide 3 months to 1 year warranty on preowned consoles.

60 GB preowned XBOX 360 is $118 (instores only and not available online)
120 GB preowned Elite XBOX 360 is $189
250 GB preowned Elite XBOX 360 is $224

I was looking for XBOX deals for those who missed out on Dickies games clearance (and will miss out again in the coming days) and to prevent such people from buying off eBay at ripoff prices. However, EBgames preowned stock will not last long! I just hope Dickies employees will not grab all of this stock and will leave it for others to buy.

Wouldn't invest in a pre-owned old school 360. They sound like a jet is taking off when you turn them on and are susceptible to red ring. But for the price I guess you can't really complain.

Agreed risk of RRoD is there. But those with gold or platinum cards with purchase protection can buy these cheap consoles and worry a little less. I think EBgames should be able to provide some sort of support warranty or something like that for peace of mind and in worst case it should be expected from Microsoft to fix RRoD consoles at a reasonable price (if not free). Or wait for a better deal on a brand new console at EOFY sales at retail stores.

        EB site states
"What warranty do I get with preowned products?

Preowned products are a great way to save money and come with a fantastic warranty to boot! All preowned games and preowned consoles pack a full 1 year replacement warranty."

        • +5

Good warranty and at $98, they'll make an excellent Media Center extender.

        • 1 year warranty on preowned is really great.

        • +1

no doubt but still a jet

      • Credit card warranty extension on Gold and Platinum involves first paying an authorised repair centre to diagnose that the fault is not caused by you. Then you need to go about claiming from the credit card company, and claim back the repair quote fee.

        • +1

This depends on the credit card company. Also I thought that credit card insurance only covered new items.

Do you work for DSE? Stay away in case you do…or are you selling your xbox on ebay for 300 chipped?

      • +1

Lol @ do you work for DSE?

        • No mate, I don't and I don't work for EBgames as well.

        • +4

facepalm I was lolling at you asking llama if he worked at DSE, not asking you if you do - that was agiven from your post :p

And thanks for pointing out to pick this up with the platinum, hadnt thought about that! Will give me total 2 years warranty (rrod insurance) woo hoo!

  • if its the falcon model it isnt that loud and wont RROD

    • Yeah, not true at all. Falcons are still quite susceptible to RROD. Jasper is the best of the phat consoles, but even it isn't RROD-proof.

  • Don't bother getting the 20gb xbox if you connect to your tv via hdmi, I believe you get hdmi blocked from the back of the xbox

    • -1

20GB models manufactured after year 2007 have HDMI port. Check the model before you buy.

    • huh what?? A falcon Xbox 20 gig comes with a HDMI output.. why is it blocked??

      • Thats what Wikipedia states for 20GB models in comparison chart i.e. it comes with HDMI after 2007 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360 and I am not sure if its called Falcon or Ivy Bridge or Whistler or Snow Leopard or Eden!

        • +2

Probably called the Xbox 360 RROD Edition

    • i have a 20 G model and it ain't blocked. What's blocked is the audio out, which u need to do some tinkering and plug in another cable to get that to work

    • You can buy the audio cable on eBay that won't block the hdmi port

  • +1

Do not go for 20GB as they could be pre-zephyr or pre-falcon model (I forgot which came first lol)

I would go for 60GB as they're likely to be falcons.

Anyway good find. I wanted to look for one around $100

  • Will EBGames honour a refund instead of a warranty swap in case it does RRoD?

    • Good question, contact EBgames tomorrow and let all of us know the outcome, cheers

      • +1

I called Wetherill Park and the employee said they will not refund it, but there is warranty for 12 months.
He also said they were 2007 models with HDMI.

        • Thanks shiny1 for finding out these details.

  • +2

well you could get this and a 250gb hdd from dickies ($50) yes there are some still around, saw one yesterday. all up $148 for a 250gb Xbox 360.

    • Different HDD, that's a slim one for $50 in DSE.

    • This will not work. Different HDD's, not compatible with each other unfortunately.

      • +1

saw one of the old ones on a clearance table for $50, wasnt the new slim one

        • which stores? all the DS i've been to are picked clean like a fresh kill

      • You could buy a $5 caddy from ebay or DXE or something and just swap the HDD over…. $55 is still cheap..

  • +2

You might get lucky and get a late Jasper but I wouldn't touch an old Falcon or zypher .

  • +1

wow they are cheap. I still have my 20gb launch day console running perfectly :)

    • All this dropping of prices and wide clearance sales have me feeling that next the next gen of consoles will be out not to far away.

    • They aren't really that cheap considering their fragility and the fact that just before Christmas you could get a brand new 4GB Slim for $158.

I guess if you can't wait for a sale it might be a decent deal, but as someone who has had 2 of these phat (HDMI, pre-Jasper) consoles red ring, I wouldn't recommend it.

  • +2

No way I'd buy another boom box. Definitely not a falcon, had two die, also had an Elite Jasper die after only three months of light use. I've just got a slim, hopefully it'll fare better.

    • -1

      don't troll, you own a ps3

  • can i still mod the 20GB (or the 60Gb)? about the audio blocked, is it important?

  • falcons zyphers n jaspers lol wow seems so complicated nowadays ….i just want it for xbmc like the old xbox or should i just stick to my ps3 and ps3mediaserver

  • Can you run XMBC on this?

  • +8

Why would you buy a second hand 20G 360 for $100, when you can get a brand new 250G 360 from Dick Smith for the same price? ;)

    /runs

    • Good luck getting one! Do post the receipt once you get one

  • 120 GB preowned Elite XBOX 360 is $189
250 GB preowned Elite XBOX 360 is $224

    lol

    this is a friggin' joke!

  • This could potentially be a JTAG gold mine, if you know what I mean.

    • +2

doesn't matter anymore with RGH available for most models

    • Consoles that can be JTAG'd are usually Xenon or very early HDMI models, which means RRoD-a-plenty. Not worth bothering with the RGH out there.

      • Everything from Xenon/Zephyr/Opus/Falcon/Jasper can be JTAG'd, it just gets rarer to find an original dash the later it gets.

  • +1

I wouldn't trust one of these consoles. These are the older models and they tend to be quite noisy if your intention for them is some sort of media centre. There are better alternatives for very similar pricepoints.
The consoles are also known for having reliability issues. Yes, you will get a 1 year warranty, but don't expect much after that. It can also be a pain taking things back.

  • Checked Nerang and Helensvale (Gold Coast) and the staff had never heard of the deal.

    • +1

And when you mentioned to check their own website they said…?

  • Generally if these are HDMI consoles there's a much lower chance of RRoD. With non-HDMI you're pretty much guaranteed it will RRoD, or has and has been "repaired" (which means it'll probably do it again eventually).

  • -1

Went to an EB store this morning in Melb - not only had they not heard of the deal, but when they did their "50km" search in the East, they found no 60GBs anywhere and a few scattered 20GBs which are unlikely to be Jasper's. Called a store in the West, exactly the same result.

    • Try to buy the 120gb version then and it can be ordered online (last I checked it was in stock online). Unfortunately the nearest one to you with 60gb is in Bendigo (searched online). They were in-stock in Dandenong today morning.

  • Not bad deal I've already got an old school 360 with hdmi for nearly 3 years now never had to worry about RROD so its not a dealbreaker certainly. Warranty is decent too

  • Got a 20GB one from Eastlands in Hobart this morning. One happy housemate.
