Kneeling Chairs?

Does anyone have recommendations on kneeling chairs?

There seems to be a decent range of affordable chairs in the USA, but the markups on kneeling chairs in Australia look far too high to me..
Of course when you factor in shipping (if available), the chairs from the USA are no longer bargains.

My local store had some decent ones for $500-600 but that is out of my price range.

From what I read, kneeling chairs might relieve your back, but will screw up your knees long term. Be careful.

    • Yes, I agree. I've had one, & have experienced this firsthand.

    • Thanks.

What relationship does body mass have on this? Obviously with pressure transferred to shins/knees, you would expect some additional strain, but I wonder whether the threshold for this to cause pain depends on ones body mass.

I know that the fact that you can't move your legs much means you have to get up regularly to stretch your legs (which we should be doing anyway).

I have several, they are great as a short term replacement for your normal chair.

They come up on ebay all the time, and second hand they are usually under 50.00

Someone is always selling them at local markets aswell, if you keep an eye out

Just saw these deals, just in case they're useful:

I have no experience with kneeling chairs though.

    • Good price!, and shipping for 18 is reasonable.

I use a kneeling chair at work and I use this 90% of the time, and an ordinary chair 10% of the time.
I don't find a problem with my knees, the weight is on my shins and buttocks but perhaps the shins and feet have to point back in line with the knees to keep alignment, just like when you walk your feet should point in the direction of your knees!

    Much cheaper on ebay!

  • is a balance ball not an alternative?

    • Not for me it isn't. The point is to reduce bodily stress, not merely for posture reasons.
