Intravenous NAC is great for paracetamol overdose, but where's the evidence to support your other claims?

    • +1

I'm not a doctor, but I don't think there's any evidence for it as a general supp. I think some people may take it for specific disorders but that's not what the post says, for example "brain health" is general, not specific.

Interestingly I thought only IV too but apparently PO also seems to work?

If there was evidence, it wouldnt say "promotes", "supports", "encourages". When you see those, translate it as "We dont have the evidence to say it actually DOES those things, please dont pay attention to us, Mr Regulator sir"

Helping against toxic Spike Protein and/or COVID

This review doesn’t include a published study for the benefits of NAC through oral administration. Unfortunately doesn’t support to the use of this supplement for COVID protection at this time.

Do your research.. Just pinged one of the thousands articles..

Clinical studies currently ongoing and seems they are completing before the trials of Pfizer & co (2023)

        https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04419025

        • +6

Yep we have safety data, but efficacy data we're still waiting on. Even the trial you just linked does not have published results yet.

It'd be great for there to be benefits, but I wouldn't go touting it just yet until the data is verified. Ultimately it's in the name clinical 'trial'. When things pass Phase III/IV we could be more confident in attesting to the benefit of oral administration.

@chamcham: It would be really nice if all these experimental Co_id shots also had Phase III/IV evidence before being released.

    600mg X 60caps for $30 + shipping…

iHerb has the same amount for $10.50 or 100caps for $12.52 depending on the brand..

Bulk Nutrients is $33 for 120 caps as well, no deal here

  • +2

I would rather buy it from bulk nutrients

    • Why?

      • +1

I’d suggest they’re Aussie and their products seem to be well researched. The info on their pages is well presented. The standards they follow seem likely more stringent compared to some overseas market products. I don’t know anything about this particular brand though, but I’ve been using Bulk Nutrients for years and they’ve always been great.

        • +1

I’d doubt BN would source this from Australia though…

Great! I wasn't getting nearly enough Acetylcysteine-adjacent radical scavengers in my diet!

I usually throw this in a three-cheese quesadilla, does a great job at keeping my heartbeat loud and armpits rosy!

    • +4

Hey… That may be just what I need for my armpits!
Tell me. Do you put a three-cheese quesadilla in each armpit or just use a single quesadilla and rub liberally?

  • How does this compare to the BioMedica VegeNac?

  • Is this legal to import into Australia?

    • … until the local TGA listens to the FDA … who are attempting to limit it's over the counter availability (eg. Amazon are limiting it sale)

This used to be used to help with renal function pre and post contrast. Many reviews later, no benefit so not used any more. I reckon if you got the bottle/container ground it to dust and snorted that it might be of more benefit.

    • +2

      Snorting now. Can confirm.

      • My fat fingers, I meant to plus this but neg it by accident. Oops

    Thanks for sharing 💪🏻

  • I got given a bottle of this before my mandatory experimental injection that's necessary for my safety according to my employer. It tastes awful, wish I'd gotten capsules instead!

    • The capsules still have that smell to them though.

You could get a micro teaspoon/doser and your own caps if you didn't want the powder to go to waste or just tolerate the awful taste.
