Cheap Paintball in Melbourne, Is $19 for 4 hour paintball session, 200 paintballs, Gear, Gun + Accessories. a good deal?

Planning to do paintball for a friends birthday.

Found this deal on DealMe. Is this a good deal or anyone have other pointers to finding a good deal. I'd prefer to do one closer to the CBD but a deal is a deal.

  • Basically the way paintball offers work is it's awfully cheap for entry and gear hire. Once you are in, you pay exorbitant amounts for the extra paintballs(which you need if you want to spend more than 30mins).

  • Looks about average, usually they have just 100 balls though for that price.

Just a few things to be aware of though:
200 balls isn't anywhere near enough for that time and extra balls are expensive when not in a package. Some places offer at the start a pack individually of 500-1000 balls which you aren't supposed to share but can and should for the price.
They don't provide you with a cup so you'll have to bring one or buy one there (which they are sometimes out of).
Other deals often have a BBQ lunch thrown in.

In the end these deals that all paintball places are just to get you there, you aren't going to be able to do much without spending at least another $50.

  • LOL a cup? That's weird.

Can you point me to another place that has a better deal?

Looking at the Oakleigh paintball place:

    Package Price:

    $50 / 200 Paintballs

    Features:

    • 4 Hour Session
    • Equipment Hire
    • Available 7 Days
    • Organise 10+ mates & get 400 paintballs FREE!

    AND

    Extra Paintballs

    100 Extra Paintballs - $22

    Group Packs:

    • Option 1 - 300 Paintballs - $59

    • Option 2 - 500 Paintballs - $75

    • Option 3 - 700 Paintballs - $95

So if I went there normally, it would cost $50.

The Port Melbourne paintball center costs $80. Doesn't say how much the extra ammo is.

    Any recommendations?

    • By cup, I meant crotch protection, which you will desperately want.

I've only done paintball the 3 times, at Moama, Coldstream and Wandong (don't go there) and each time I've spent over $80 for the day.

The Oakleigh place looks probably as good as you're going to get for the price with the distance factor, but the group packs requiring everyone do go for it makes it hard to judge. But considering it's indoor, you wont have any trouble with wind or scrub wasting your ammo its probably worth while. You're pretty much getting the standard offer, but I haven't seen anything cheaper.

Just understand you're going to have to spend more and if you don't prepare early, its going to be impulse buys to keep you in the game.

      • ohhhh, that kind of cup. I thought you meant they have a bbq but provide you no cup to drink out of. ha.

I don't imagine us playing for 4 hours. Seems excessive.

How much ammo do you reckon one needs per hour? I went paintballing maybe 10 years ago and I don't think I used that much. I'm more of a sniper type although I never hit anyone.

Maybe I'll email them and see if they can offer the dealme deal and negotiate it from there.

        • At your most conservative, you're still going to be shooting at least 100 balls per half an hour.

  • Dandenong shopping centre had a stand yesterday with special deals. for the one in Dingley. if you not far drop in, but they all do deals, you can call them. but yeah, they make there money on rebuys of pellets.

  • i used to work for a paintball company, in my experience, if your a trigger happy person, you'll go through 500+

    http://www.melbourneindoorpaintball.com.au/prices.html

they have an unlimited paintball package for $100.
but you have to play tuesday-Thursday.

i'd be doing that if i was you. cause once you start pulling that trigger, you'll find the balls dissapear alot quicker than you want to.

get a min of 8 players though, you'll enjoy it more

    • Not going to be possible to play in the middle of week. It will most likely be a Friday night or Saturday day. This is becoming a bit too expensive and coordinated, may just find something else to do for his birthday. Thanks for all the input.
