  • Released 2017. Still good bang for buck.

$90 delivery it seems to SA

    • Same to WA. Postage kills the deal unless you are in NSW click and collect.

    lol

No dedicated centre channel. Maybe it's good for music…

My last two 2.1 systems were better for TV than my two last soundbars. They will likely have tuned this to have a phantom centre channel like my current Sonos Amp. It works perfectly. On the flip side, having the two speakers further apart than a sound bar make the sound stage far better than a soundbar.

OK if you need it…. Looks good!!
Seems a bit pointless having wireless speakers unless your intention is to mount them remotely. Power cables are still there…

    • For rear speakers it makes sense as you don't need to run speaker cable across the room. But for a front pair it's both pointless and stupid.

Or for a projector set up. One less thing to run

A dedicated wireless system like this is a recipe for disaster. One thing fails, pretty much renders the unit useless. Without actual speaker outputs, there's no way to save it.

Also as poster above indicated, you'll still need power to the satellite speakers? Or do they run on rechargeable?!

Me personally I'd prefer speaker cables than using an extra power point

    • I guess this is cheaper than a proper AVR and speakers

I have one of the 4k max Firesticks for $59 and a couple of last gen echo plus' in the lounge room right now. For around $120 all in it is an outstanding upgrade to basic TV.

No AVR but wow for the money.

  • No HDR10

  • $90 delivery!!
    Is it worth $700?

  • Would this be better than a playbase with 2x play 3

  • Thanks bought one

  • Can you stream analogue input audio fed into this to other speakers around the house?

  • Is Pioneer still good like the old times or it is another of those historic brands that sold their name and now rubbish?

    • In March 2015, Onkyo purchased Pioneer Corporation's Home Electronics Corporation, which produces home cinema amplifiers, Blu-ray players and other AV products. In return, Pioneer took a 14.95% stake in Onkyo.

Depends what you think of Onkyo. At least Onkyo is not a private equity firm or a Chinese manufacturer looking for brand credibility.

Onkyo receivers were copping flak due to their dying HDMI boards and non-sound output issues hence their warranty was extended till end of 2019 on many AV receivers.
Pioneer had issues with their circa 2011 - 5 series amps which died.
Now most are made in Vietnam of Malaysia and not China.
Marantz high series AV8xxxx are only made in Japan

    • Their LX series are good = Integra. I have a couple of LX series and Integra amps and the Onkyo/Intergra are more powerful and Pioneer (using Class D) were very reliable
Most of them are made in Vietnam now and not China

  • Received today, separate delivery for sub. System sounds really nice, very happy with it
