88MPH: The Story of the DeLorean Time Machine
In the film, co-writer and co-producer Bob Gale discusses the origin of Back to the Future and how he and Bob Zemekis came to include a DeLorean in the movie. DeLorean Historian, Tamir Ardon chronicles the illustrious past of the DeLorean automobile and the company’s namesake. The film goes on to present a never-before detailed look at how the A-Car was crafted by the original designers and builders through interviews with Michael Scheffe, Kevin Pike, Andrew Probert, and newly released recording from designers Ron Cobb and Mike Fink. Hear from fans and enthusiasts that restored the A-Car and have built their own replicas to honor the “hero car.”
Hagerty Drivers Foundation would like to say thank you to Universal Studios for allowing the Hagerty Drivers Foundation to document this Hollywood icon and the Petersen Automotive Museum, where the car is on permanent loan, for opening their doors for filming. We’d also like to extend a huge thanks to the entire Back to the Future community for their part and help in making this documentary a reality and everybody that took the time to interview with our team. Having such a dedicated fan base is what has helped this story stay alive and will continue to thrive into the future!
