PCR Test from Sydney to Queensland?

We're a family of 4 who booked our tickets (for late December) last week and just stupidly found out today that we we're required to do a PCR test before departure and after arrival. That would come to around $1360 and I am definitely not willing to pay that.

Any chance I can get a refund for these flights?
Or
Is there a cheaper alternative to the $160-170 tests?

PCR tests for domestic travel are free.

You can go to the government testing centres in your state. The SMS they send you with your negative result is sufficient to enter QLD.

The ones you are required to pay for are for overseas travel.

    As for proof you don't need to pay, you will need to consult with your relevant state COVID information pages.
    
    I confirmed this for myself with my state (SA) by contacting them.
    
    I am sure other people will be along shortly to share their experiences and info if they have sources etc.

      Thanks for that! That's the page I was looking at actually. I looked up the cost of PCR tests and assumed it applied to all flights, domestic and international. That's when I freaked out.

        I was in the same boat as I'm heading to QLD over the holidays. Have definitely had to do lots of research.
        
        It's a bit to get through, but is what we are stuck with for the time being unfortunately!

For a family of 4, with each test costing $160, how does it add up to $1360? Nonetheless I'm glad you don't have to pay.
