Should I Get a Hisense Front Loading Washing Machine?

I am in the market for a new washing machine, between 9-10kg capacity. We currently have a Samsung washer/dryer and it's complete garbage. For this reason alone, I want to avoid Samsung out of principle, although I'm sure they have some good standalone washers.

Someone is selling this Hisense unit for $500: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/hisense-hwfe1014va-10kg-f…
I'm very tempted to buy it as it has all the features I want, is still under warranty for two years and comes with proof of purchase. All the reviews I've read have been good but there aren't a lot.

I don't really care about how well the clothes wash, I'm sure all units wash them relatively equally. I'm more concerned about reliability in the long run.

All the forum comments I've read have suggested to avoid Hisense. What would you guys recommend instead? I don't have a strict budget if it's for the right unit. Are German made Bosch units the way to go? or Miele? Just worried about paying a lot for one of these only for them to break down after the warranty period.

  • I've had that model for just over a year now, no issues at all. Family of 4 (2 kids under 6).

    • Is it loud?

      • Well im not in the same room when it runs, but I can’t hear it from the adjoining rumpus when it’s n and the door’s closed.

  • With a German made Bosch or a Miele you can't go wrong. At least that is my personnel experience and if you are concerned about it going kaput right after the warranty period then there is always the ACL.

    • At least that is my personnel experience

      But what about your experience?

My personal experience is the same as of my personnel.

        • Nice to see someone getting good quality equipment for their washing personnel. Rather than a river and a rock.

  • Didnt know the biggest electronic retailer in Australia is now just a "Someone".

If you dont trust Samsung, have a look a LG. I think the hierarchy of product quality will be European/Japanese > Korean > Chinese which also applies to price. Hisense/TCL products are perceived to not last as long as the others.

    • I read that as someone is selling it 2nd hand for $500 seeing as it is $696 on that link?

      • Yes that’s right, second hand

  • I currently have the well reviewed WAW28460AU. First front loader I've used/owned. I'm neither impressed or disappointed with it.

I don’t expect any washing machine to impress me unless it can load itself. Imo the usability and quality of washing are relatively similar across the board regardless of price.

The question for me is reliability and customer service

      • Sure, but the reviews are so glowing, my expectations were pretty high haha

  • Aldi have a 10KG one at the moment for $499.

  • LG topped Choice reviews.

I have had a Bosch for over 20 years and it has had a couple of repairs over this time, pump, inlet valve. I have an appliance repairman I have used for many years and whilst fixing my inlet valve about 3 months ago I asked him which machine he would recommend, without hesitation he answered LG.

        LG seems great.
I had a FP for over 15 years, never needed a repair in that time.
        Recently upgraded to an LG.
So quiet. User programmable cycles. "Hygiene" wash. And 10kg so fits my quilt!
        So far so good.

  • Good luck with lg as a company. Products seem good but when they break you are in for an emotional rollercoaster ride trying to get service.
