Should be able to cover your current Dualsense under warranty as it should include a statutory warranty.
Interesting value for a DS4 controller I guess. They also released console plates with the same colours.
PS4 controllers are still 89$? I see there are more PS5 controllers on sales in here.
$85 for two pieces of plastic?
Yep, I think I’ll just stick to the white faceplates…the PS5 is standing up right hidden behind the TV anyway. 😅
Hahahaha same, although I'd consider the black ones purely because that fits my general "make EVERYTHING black" mindset. I wonder if I can get a cheapie ps4 controller and do the trade to black and save some $ over buying a new one.
To be fair, the revised Darkplates are currently US$69 (normally US$89) with a pretty hefty delivery fee.
So in that sense, this isn't too bad of a price as a first-party accessory.
Edit: Then again, you could just get a $40 set from AliExpress - reviews seem fairly good
Op. There’s also other colour faceplates coming soon as well (Pink, Blue, Purple):

RRP is $120 but they'll soon be on sale for $89 so you're trading in your DS4 with resell value of $60-70 for $20 or your DSense with resell value of $80-90 for $30.
If it like the red ones, they will never go below 99
Literally $89 at Catch last month https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/661934
Who in their right mind would ever pay $60 to 70 for a second hand DS4!? They can often be had brand new for well under that?
I dunno mate but eb sells them for $78 and I wouldn't let go of my red one for anything less
Yeah, I'll pay max $50, and that is if it is a limited edition I like.
Typically, $35 is the standard price
Would you call yourself a typical consumer or a bargain hunter though?
@King Steuart: Fair enough. I've been spoiled by the OzB prices!
where can you find DS4s for that price?
Ds4 can be sold for 60? Wow
Yep if you check comlpeted listings on ebay they can go from anywhere between $40 and $100 depending on the colour and condition. Sometimes normal black ones sell for $60 + $10 shipping!
Do they check if the controller works? I have one where the right stick drifts
They do or might depend on the store. My brother did a console trade with controllers and they actually plugged it in and tested.
they require photo ID for all trade ins. I presume it's a security measure to ensure you don't give them something dodgy. If you do they can trace it back to you later.
Never plugged in anything for me, just a quick once over look. As long as stuff doesn't look thrashed, I think you'd be fine.
I don’t think they bother to do the test.
I traded one in once and they asked me if anything was wrong with them and I said maybe the battery was starting to wear cos they were a bit old and they deducted a $10 fee off the trade to get it tested..just lie through your teeth that there’s nothing wrong with them. 😆
did they ask you for ID?
Can’t remember…it’s linked to my Eb games account so they probably didn’t need ID
@ne-us: was there anything wrong with your controller, and did they ever contact you about it?
@lostn: Battery’s we’re starting to wear out
Nup, I already left with the Goods…I don’t think they were going to send me an invoice to replace the worn batteries. 😆
@ne-us: i got a left stick that isn't very good. I just worry they'll charge me for it later if the next buyer returns it and complains. So I didn't want to risk it, since they require photo ID.
A battery is a difficult thing to test.
@lostn: How do think they will charge you later?
@ne-us: i don't know.. send a bill, or call you. Maybe they make you sign some contract that says you will be liable and they can take action against you if you sold them dodgy stuff. I never tried so I wouldn't know for sure.
@lostn: I don’t think they’d bother to do all that to recover 10 bucks..😅
Come to think of it I think one of the sticks were wonky and they never called so I think you will be fine…lol
@ne-us: that's good to hear, but it's also possible the one you sold them they haven't been able to resell yet. In my case it's not a battery fault but one of the sticks is wild. It's not drifting, but it's erratic when pushing upwards. Sometimes it registers correctly, sometimes it doesn't.
In the end I decided against trading in. Thinking about it, you get a discount from $119 to $69 which is a $50 trade in and sounds good, but that assumes you buy the controller at the inflated $119 RRP. These things normally go on discount for $89, so the real trade in value is just $20 if you wait for sale.
I'm just going to use my working DS4 for now. The new colours are also a bit fugly. For some reason they couldn't just give us standard colours like a dark blue instead of garish bright colours and a dark purple.
@lostn: I traded it in about more than 2 years ago..😆
They don't usually but I sincerely hope they do for you. Best of luck.
I would trade my old ds4 for one if the dual sense was actually compatible with the ps4.
Does anybody have a current trade in list?
Can I trade my PS4 controller in for a black PS5 controller for $69? Or, is it just these new colours?
Just the new ones.
anyone looking to do this, it stacks with your eb world discount
my changeover price was $49 (extra $10 from eb level 3), so I got $70 for a stick drift 1 year old dualsense
even if it worked fully, I can't see myself getting $70 for selling a used controller privately….excellent deal in my books, thanks OP :)
It's actually a decent trade-in offer, but then you realise you're still paying $60 for a colour change… Might be worthwhile if you have any current DualSense issues I suppose.
