So I am getting a new ish car in the next few days and unfortunately it has a full glass roof.
Every tint shop I've ever asked has always said no to tinting sunroofs but lately I noticed there's a lot of tinted vinyl going over headlights etc.
Is it possible to use a mostly transparent reflective vinyl over the outside of a glass roof?
I still want to be able to use it a bit but prefer to get some heat and light rejection coming into summer. I think it would also help with possible stone damage.
Vinyl and tint are far from the same thing. You're likely finding some place reluctant to do it because the rumour is it can cause them to shatter, something about containing more heat in the glass. Personally I doubt it and have never known anyone it's happened to but I'd bet that's why some places won't do it.
Stick with a quality tint, it'll have a longer life and better UV and IR rejection. You'll just have to keep contacting places until you find someone willing to do it.
