Hello All,
I'm just posting my bad experience wit Betta industries.
I was going to install 2 shower screens in my new home & I search on Google (which I should not be doing!) and find them.
Two custom made shower screens cost me $990 and paid $200 deposit & all good before the installation come.
on 28/3/12 I received a call from them that the screens are ready and asked me if it's ok to install them tomorrow(29/3/12). And I replied OK and asked them if any particular time? They said someone will make me a call on next day 7-7:30am to arrange time. then I said fine but please don't come between 11am-1pm (as my baby is regularly sleeping at the time and it needs to my mom to walk half hours to the new house with my baby)
On 29/3/12 7:30am, I received a call from the fitter Aron, and he asked me if 11am-1pm is ok for him to get installation.(WTF, that's the time I told them not to be there) and I told him it's not ok and can you arrange other time as my baby is sleeping? He said no! and I told him any other time's fine. He said he can't arrange other time because it's too far away for him to go back home! And them i told him to arrange other days. He told me he will give the paper works back to the office and hang up.
I've called their office straightaway and it's in voice mail and i leave a massage about the installation.
A girl called me back on 9:30 and told me that I can rearrange day and if so $200 cancellation fee apply to not to install today! and then she transferred me to his manager(who claimed is the top of the business) Anthony and he told me the exactly same thing. he laugh at me to take the baby to a car seat to sleep and he is not going to upset the fitter because your baby is sleeping. and then threaten me again that if there's no one there at 11:00am, they will charge me $200 cancellation fee (although I don't want to cancel the job, just want to rearrange other day or time) and then hang up my phone.
(to those who not have a baby (for most of baby ,to put them to sleep is an hard job, and most of them if they disrupted during the sleep is very hard to take them back and will be upset all day)
I feel upset and helpless.
Finally I asked my mom to go there and let the baby sleep in the trolly under the sun which i feel so sad.
(the installation is not good. the doors is not perfect fit and there are gaps between the screen and the tube.)
Sorry about the long story, i just want to warn other bargainer don't look for them if you are going to have shower screen or wardrobe.
Further question, is it I asked too much to rearrange time because my sleeping baby???
And are they be able to charge me $200 for not installed on the day if i not allow them to come (which is not stated anywhere in the quote i signed)??
Am I be able to ask them to come back to fix the gap and the door?
Thanks.
Elf
if they did a bad job, do call them first and see what they say.
if you get nowhere, then contact the ACCC.
I used them for a crappy pest control company, which advertised to return if the pest did and after a while they didn't answered my call. The ACCC was able to get half my money back. I didn't push for more, as they did do some work the first few times around.
If betta dont fix the problem, I would insist on a full refund and they can send someone out to take the screen back, that's if you want to go that far. But i think with the ACCC invovled they should send someone to fix the gaps.
you can submit a compliant online and they do get back to you.
