Tyre Recommendation for Mazda CX-9 255/50R20 109Y

Hi there, I'm looking to replace my mazda cx-9 tyres but don't know anything about tyres! I'm looking for a good tyres between $250-$350 per tyre (I hope this is enough?). I'm in Sydney. Also, let me know if you come across any deals :)

50% off Pirelli at mycar today I think.

The mycar deal would have them for around $200 each.

Else if you want to go a budget/lesser known brand but still get a decent tyre i've heard good reviews for Sailun Artezzos
About $150 a tyre fitted off independent tyre shops on facebook marketplace.

    • No. Do not put that shit on your car.

      Buy a proven decent tyre.

In no particular order Goodyear, Michelin, Dunlop, Pirelli, Bridgestone. Whatever's on special.

      • I had a mate who owned a car tyre shop and he said that honestly, tyre technology isn't exactly ground breaking and that every brand starts somewhere.
He swears by some of the smaller no-name brands, the tyre reviews online even check out. The only benefit that the high end ones had was that the markup he could place on them was huge, among slightly improved wear in some cases. The profit margin on the cheaper tyres were much slimmer.

In terms of Pirellis. The Scorpion Verde's that Mycar has scored below the Sailun Artezzos on Tyrereviews.com

        • Personally, I wouldn't have scorpion verde tyres on my cars if you gave them to me for free. The ones on our work cars are awful.
I also wouldn't have the sailun's either, again, even if free

          • @oscargamer: Just goes to show that Even the name brands make shit tyres.

            Pays to do your research

        • Scorpion Verdes are rubbish for some reason, as are sailuns though.

  • Continental Premium Contact 6

  • I used to have Bridgestone Dueller HL. I thought that tyre was excellent. It handled well and most importantly, it felt gripping enough. I never had a flat tyre or damaged tyre on that.

Then Mazda, in its infinite wisdom decided to use Bridgestone Ecopia as OEM which resulted in really bad flat (and damaged) tyre and never felt that it gripped.

I had to change 2 of them into Scorpion Verdes. They are rough but boy they gripped as well as the Dueller HLs. They are extremely expensive though. I had to use them because those were the only ones available when I had my flat tyre and I was interstate.

Get these ones and thank me later https://www.tempetyres.com.au/tyreproducts?winrun-2555020-10… I had them on my car for 3+ years

Ignore the tyre snobs and hype about the tyre brands, most tyres are made in China or somewhere else in South East Asia and technology is not a rocket science really.

FTR for all who say do not buy Chinese tyres, Kumho which is well known and popular brand here in Oz, is subsidiary of DoubleStar (largest tyre company in China), check their channel for few test videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoJJTDWoy9HNThGT_y8l3MA

    • Winrun are trash.

      • Have you actually used them, or are your statement based on opinions on the internet?

        • I used to fit them years ago. Trash.
