All the smart robotic button pushers (not sure if this is the right term) seem to Bluetooth controlled, does anyone know why?
It's quite inconvenient to go through a hub or a gateway to control the button. Is there one that is directly Wi-Fi controlled?
Thanks.

In short, power consumption.
When you want a battery-powered device to last for months at a time, you don't want to use Wi-Fi as it uses up to 3x more power even in sleep mode, and 6x more power in active modes. Hence why the "smart" switches generally go through a hub - the battery sipping switches can stick to Bluetooth/Zigbee, while the plugged-in hub can relay packets to/from them via Wi-Fi.
