Edit: the offer in question is the spend $200 get $200 or $400 get $400 on higher tier card. It’s a targeted offer that replaces travel credit.
Bought a laptop yesterday from HN (disclaimer: they were the only ones within a 1 hour drive that had the laptop I wanted).
Paid $200 using amex and rest with 28degrees for future price protection (scaled).
For some reason although the transaction is definitely pending on amex records, the offer didnt get marked as used.
The offer is still in my saved offers and I didnt get an email saying offer used, which is usually nearly instant.
I figured it must be because I bought it at night, perhaps theres a delay in posting the transaction.
I've been on chat with 2 online chat agents and both are giving me excuses like transaction is not valid and mindlessly just copying the T&C of deal.
When I question exactly which part of the T&C invalidates the transaction they dont answer.
I've also called an online 'local' phone agent for them and she accused me of not having the offer saved.
Which I quickly proved her wrong but could still offer no answers other than 'some transactions can take up to 90 days for the offer to activate'
So question is:
- Has anyone had issues doing split payments with amex and amex offer not being proc'ed
- In the event I need to escalate this with an authority of sorts since amex is proving unhelpful, who IS the authority on credit card issues?
I spent $113 at Amazon the other day as that's falls under the same jb/harveyn/Amazon deal. Have not seen the credit or the deal showing as used yet either.
I believe it can be used twice. So I wonder if it waits for a second transaction OR for the promo period to end….who knows.
I will def give amex a call if I don't see any change either.
