diy = free, but it would probably cost about $100 to have someone install it for you, a normal whirly bird would do just as good as a job, just make sure its good quality so it lasts, i can see this item dieing after 5 years..
hmmm…. I could make it for that! Fan/panel/thermostat. Probably wouldn't look as good though, but that's not the point!

Having recently built a house, the material cost for a whirlybird was $60. $350 for an electric model isn't bad if it achieves its designed claims of being much more effective.
