Upgrade RAM Help - Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming

Hi guys,

Just bought this gaming laptop from marketplace, but the problem is when I run any game on it, it says "Your computer has 3.2GB/8 GB memory right now, but AOE IV requires at least 4 GB of ram to run without any issues, so your game might not respond" smth like that.

I'd like to upgrade the ram on this laptop - buy 16 GB ram to upgrade it to 24 GB. My laptop is Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming (https://i.dell.com/das/dih.ashx/673w/sites/imagecontent/prod…)

Can anyone please tell me which RAM should I buy and whether the RAM is upgradable? what things should I consider before upgrading etc? I have 8 GB 2400 Mhz ram, so should I buy 16 GB 2400 Mhz or it can be 3200Mhz too?

Please help.

Cheers.

  • Buy Crucial or Kingston RAM for use in Dell laptops.

Faster speed is fine (providing it's same/near price to the 2400), as the sticks will sync to operate at the speed of the slowest module installed.

I'd avoid Geil SODIMM's as I've never had much luck in having them work, or function correctly in various Dell Latitude models.

  • Go through installed programs and remove the bloatware that's included and open in background sapping your memory.

  • Hi memory upgrade for a laptop is easy to do either read this https://www.digitaltrends.com/laptop-reviews/dell-inspiron-1… or as i did it watch a youtube video for yur model.

  • Is your device running 32bit windows or the app 32bit?

    How old is it?

    • It's Intel Core i5 7th Gen - I will go home and check if it's running 32 bit or 62 bit windows

    • Its 64 bit

  • Agreed, save money and either clean out crapware or re-install OS ;)
Also check if 32bit OS ..

  • Just download more RAM

    • lol?

  • +1

I had this issue with 12gb of installed ram. 3.2gb is suspiciously the same amount of ram that a 32 bit operating system can see
Turned out the 32 bit windows i accidentally installed couldn't see the rest of the ram.
1 format and reinstall of the 64 bit version later and it was fixed.
