$49 cheaper than last deal with the added benefit (?) of Win 11 pre-installed.
15.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) 16:9 display (IPS according to ASUS)

I would say yes considering it comes with Win 11.
Sometimes I question if some can read or if they rely on the pictures and then ask questions.
Is Ram upgradeable?
I don't think so, on ASUS webpage it list 1 x SO-DIMM?
https://www.asus.com/au/Laptops/For-Home/Everyday-use/ASUS-F…
Edited: Apparently only 1 x SO-DIMM so I would say no. It's probably soldered.
you have to discard the 4gb module already in the slot and buy an 8 or 16gb module which is not ideal

this laptop is not good for $999
for $649 its ok given you can accept the compromises
You are looking at wrong model. This is i5-1035G1 (4c) which is better than the i3-1005G1 (2c) in review and also it's already 8GB RAM. That would be adequate for light use which it's meant for.
@Bigboomboom: I assume people want to go from 8gb to 16gb or more (ie. 4 + 16Gb or 4 + 8Gb)
also the cpu is largely irrelevant here… the 10th gen isnt a powerhouse anyway and you're more interested in the ports, battery life, screen and ssd expansion which does not change…
According to this disassembly and upgrade options video, it has only 1 memory slot

That actuallys looks pretty good. Just going to check it has a backlit keyboard and ill likely get it.
This one has no backlit keyboard
This looks better
ASUS has USB C though, the convenience of being able to use a dock is massive
Without bothering to research into it, i can almost guarantee you it'll be a data only port (not a full function USB-C port which is required for a dock). All the cheap laptop chassis' i've seen with USB-C ports are just data only (for USB sticks and such).
Really helpful, thanks. Any thoughts on how this latop (and the Acer you linked) compare with the Dell Inspiron from TGG mentioned by portard below?
This seems like a decent deal, does someone know what the actual laptop model is? Just want to make sure it has a backlit keyboard. Thanks
Actual model is F515JA-BQ753W and yes it has backlit keyboard.
How much is the F16?
I was in the market for a laptop in this price range today, ended up getting this Dell for my mum who’s needs are very basic. https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/dell-inspiron-3000-156-inches…
Called up TGG sales number and they got the price down to $654 for me, then I bought gift cards 5% off for a final price of $621
Asus quality has never impressed me based on the past asus laptops I’ve had
asus make a lot of really crappy laptops
its hard to say this but even acer is better but it is what it is for beggar at $650
Interesting because I highly recommend ASUS, but mind you my current one is now 6 years old (ZenBook) and still going strong. Maybe the quality has deteriorated since then.
I was actually thinking of buying one this week in the sales simply to upgrade specs and pass my current one to a family member.
You have now made me to a double take on purchasing another ZenBook. I'll do more homework.
4x ZenBooks in my family including my own - UX330, UX360, 2x UX433. They're trouble free and I'd recommend them to anyone. The keyboard in particular has improved.
@Techie4066: Good to know they haven't changed, hopefully there will be a Cyber Monday special on them,
Interesting, I have used 3 Asus laptops in the last 10+ years.
normally I upgrade every 5 years, have not had any issues with any of my Asus laptops, current laptop is a 3 years old Asus vivobook i5 8th gen, no complaints.
won't hesitate to get another Asus in the future
This Dell looks good to me. But according to the specs, it only has 1 USB port. Is that true? If so, plugging in say a USB mouse and then wanting to use a USB stick becomes painful…
It has 3 USB ports
They always mess up spec pages
Yeah I should have figured, thanks for confirming.
why the laptop screen is so big? 15.6"…. 14'' is enough, 15.6" screen is too big for a girl
My wife's never complained
She doesn’t mind a 4” either
"too big for a girl"…yikes!
'michael' speaking for all girls everywhere
i prefer 13-14 myself
i think 15 seems to be just easier for companies to make
Is this one a better deal?
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/667011
Depends - Acer has +11Wh battery capacity, 150g lighter, and 1 gen newer processor. Looks plasticy.
Asus has a sleeker design and is probably sturdier. Check the ports for what you need.
Can it run windows 11?
