Not many people are still awake at 2AM AEDST.

I don't know, I think the fact that the 3DS is the fastest selling video game console in Australian history shows that the 3DS is impressing the masses.

      • -4

I think it's also important to note a couple of other stats before praising it's success.

        1. The main drawcard of the 3DS isnt the 3D, it's backwards compatibility.
        2. The ds lite isn't being sold anymore by most retailers. if you want to play DS games, what with the DSi XL being more expensive in most stores… the obvious choice to play DS games is the 3DS. It has been a clever strategy to inflate the success of the 3DS while retiring old hardware and maintaining support for it.
        3. It flailed after the third week of release and demanded a pricecut when DS lites/regular dsi were first being sold.
        4. Taking into account that sales like this are flogging it for $150, The 3DS has shed approximately 60% of it's value within the first 8 months of being available.
        5. it is almost inevitable that the 3DS will undergo a significant redesign to incorporate the circle pad pro instead of having the horrible attachment.
        6. 3DS games are not breaking any sales records, nor coming near it.

I own a 3DS,but hey, I am not going to pretend it is the massive success that fanboys are touting it to be.

        Edit:

Have a look at this: http://www.vgchartz.com/ have a look at the software charts for last week.

no handhelds rank in the top 10 for North America or Europe.

for Japan though, top software sales are all handhelds bar one.

1 DS Pokemon + Nobunaga no Yabou 172,963
        2 PSP Shining Blade 123,542
3 PSP Puella Magi Madoka Magica Portable 63,845
        4 PS3 One Piece Pirate Musou 35,154
5 PSP Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side Premium: 3rd Story 28,752
6 3DS Hatsune Miku and Future Stars: Project Mirai 17,930
        7 3DS Mario Kart 7 17,627
8 3DS Onna no Ko to Misshitsu ni Itara **shichau Kamoshirenai 17,390
        9 3DS Monster Hunter 3G 17,083
        10 3DS Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games 16,547

A regular DS game game first, followed by one PSP game sold more than the top 5 3DS games combined.

those VGchartz statistics always have new releases selling more than old ones.
check it on a week when you got some 3ds games coming out and they'll be at the top.

Please, get over the price drop. Nintendo said sorry, what more do you want.
and the circle pad pro is completely unnecessary, no games need it.

I honestly can't believe you think people buy the 3DS for original DS games. They got DS Lites, DSi's & DSi XLs still in stores for less than the 3DS. I haven't heard of anyone who's bought a 3DS for DS games.
          You're full of shit.

        • A lot of people buy the 3DS for original nintendo ds games. I did for one. DS Lites are not being sold brand new, DSi's have not been sold for quite some time, and Dsi XLs are more expensive than a 3DS. buying a 3DS for regular ds games is the logical thing to do.

As for the circle pad pro being unnecessary, just wait and see. I'd be willing to put money that they will rerelease the 3DS at a later stage with a second analogue stick built in. the 3DS was given a rushed release without a decent launch line up because they wanted to get their foot in being the first of the seventh gen gaming consoles well before the vita came out.

I live and breathe handheld consoles, but okay, I suppose I must be full of shit because I have a differing opinion to you.

        • DSi's have not been sold for quite some time

          Wrong.

Dsi XLs are more expensive than a 3DS.

          Also wrong.

        • http://ebgames.com.au/search?title=dsi have a browse.

a lot of retailers dont stock the original white and black dsi's any more too.

XL's generally retail at 219 while the 3DS generally retails at 199 now.

        • EB isn't the only store that sells games. Here it is in a current Target catalogue, and last week's Big W catalogue, and JB Hifi. It's usually being sold somewhere for $179, but it's pretty common to find it below $170 as well (such as this sale at Big W from earlier this month). So yeah, "DSi's have not been sold for quite some time" is just complete BS. And it's also much cheaper than the 3DS — aside from this particular one-off sale which only lasted a few hours in the middle of the night, the cheapest the 3DS has been is $185.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what point you're even trying to argue here… yes, backwards compatibility was a contributing factor in the success of the 3DS. The same has been true of every Nintendo handheld. I'm not sure how that's supposed to prove that the 3DS is not a success.

The 3DS is selling really well, in case you haven't noticed.

  • Wouldn't be surprised if this was used since it is being sold by a reseller.

  • +1

    Used or New?

  • Most importantly what region is the console.

    • I was under the impression that the 3ds doesn't care about regions anymore…if want on phone would check…

      • +2

Nope, the 3DS is definitely region-locked.

Annyone buuy this who is planning to sell on ebay? I can make you an offer.

  • Did anyone manage to get one?

I bought an xbox 360 controller from them the other day. They just emailed me this today:

We have found a pricing error for Xbox 360 - Wireless Controller (Black) in this order. For this reason, this title has been cancelled from your order.

Despite our best efforts, occasionally pricing errors do occur and we have no choice but to cancel the product from your order.

$14.41 will be refunded to your paypal account.

We do apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Can they do this? Isn't this false advertising?
