Prepend 12ft.io/ to the URL of any paywalled page, and we'll try our best to remove the paywall and get you access to the article.

Of course the ABC has the best freely accessible news in this country: https://www.abc.net.au/news/justin/
but for those that would like to access other paywalled sites, try it out.

    Google Cached links are another way to get around paywalls if you care enough to fluff around with it. Tips:

    • Switch to Desktop Mode if you're on a mobile device to access cached sites
    • Search for the headline in quotes AND add the website name to prevent Google's "Top Stories" summarisation from removing the cached link
    • Websites like CachedView.com should also work well with this technique

    Media corporations have had years to figure out the transition to online and how they can monetise their content but I don't think any of them have managed to successfully make the leap. Advertising, micro-payments and subscriptions don't seem to be working out.

      You can read nyt for free. Just click/tap x before the article loads completely.

    doesn't work on local paper CourierMail Fraser coast nor does the bypass paywall for chrome

      I use 'Bypass Paywalls Clean' addon for Firefox which works well, and I think there's also a Chrome version.

      I am ashamed to confirm that this plug-in recommendation from @Mister Plod worked on couriermail.com.au

        I used the chrome version didnt happen for me but with javascript off as an excluded site did have some success

      Google for Chrome bypass paywall. I tested it just now. It works, but breaks the page layout a little bit.
