Help Needed Picking between Retail Stores Mattresses

Hi ozbagainers, our old king mattress is due for a change and we didn't want to bother with testing those mattresses in a box, so we went to the shops and tested a few mattresses in store. We were looking at pocket springs as she is a light sleeper with a sub-$2000 budget.

Now I'm pretty happy with the following options listed below, and were wondering if anyone has anything bad to say about the stores/mattress in terms of warranty/mattress longevity below to help me narrow down our choices? Cheers.

Beds R Us Sleepyhead Comfort for you,
Original Mattress Factory (OMF) Refresh,
Original Mattress Factory (OMF) Rejuvenate (mattress in a box),
Amart Orthokinetic Octavia.

just because someone likes mattress A, doesn't mean you will like it…

Just go to all the stores and literally lay on each and half an hour. In every position you do at home to try fall asleep. Bring your own pillows and blankets if that’s what it takes. That’s the only way you’ll know if it’s right for you.

  • Given you're spending 1/3 of your life on it i'd consider it a worthy investment to go to a store to get it right.

No matter how many positive reviews others have nothing beats trying it out in person. Plus the warranty and support IMO is better.

I spent a couple of months prior to selecting mine (had to wait for a sale - never buy a mattress not on sale). Went for a slumberland as the bang for the buck was great.
Some of the more expenno $2k+ mattress to me felt worse.

All i can recommend is if you're heavier, go for a firmer mattress and test it in the store. I've had friends go for the mattress in a box 'firm' and ended up just sinking into it.

  • Seriously don’t make our mistake.
    Just buy sleeping duck.
