Transfer Credit from Telstra Prepaid Starter Kit

I know there's lots of talk here about it, but has anyone actually done it? Do you need to select a particular plan when activating the sim for the credit to be freely available to transfer, or is it all fairly straightforward?

  • If activating, put on 12 month expirey, then just text the credit to another prepaid telstra sim (I did mine to an ipad) so it wasnt wasted. You are charged for each transfere so if you had $30 credit it would be 3 sms's of credit and the last would be less than the full $10…

  • Thanks srhardy. just activated with a view to transferring some credit to my daughter's phone, only to discover I now have to wait 24 hours to register for 'my account' to be able to do the transfer. grrrrr

  • Does my daughter also have to be registered for credit me2u for the transfer to work? I've been trying for a couple of days now - it goes through all the motions on the phone, and then hangs at the final stage.

    • no she doesnt, you can start transfer approximately 5 minutes after you activate online.

      • Thanks for that. I was finally able to do it, after about a week, and 3 different phones.

  • If you had two Long Life SIMs that weren't actually being used, could you keep them both running almost indefinitely by just passing credit back and forth and extending their expiry each time?

    • I don't believe credit me2u extends the expiry date unless it's under 14 days in which case it extends it to 14 days. You only get the 12month expiry when you recharge.

    • Yes. However, I've found that the best value for me is the Cap Encore + Plan but use the Simplicity Plan and just transfer funds back and forth every 14 days, this way you can easily extend your credit for more than a month for $10 (Buy the sim cards when they are on sale from Coles/Woolies worth $30 credit). :)
