Indoor Cycling or Exercise Bike Suggestions? Spin Bike, etc

Hi I'm just looking for a simple bike where I can cycle and watch some boring zoom calls at the same time

I'm just looking for something comfortable, simple and gets the job done so any reviews or suggestions are helpful. Not planning to use it super often so just something that gets the job done is great.

Need something indoors and comfortable

..where I can cycle and watch some boring zoom calls at the same time

There's a couple of people in my team on bikes and treadmills while they're zooming. Their head just bobs up and down, up and down.. and they look like they're agreeing with everything i say (and it looks like something else too!) ha!

Good pickup! I didn't even notice that myself! 🤣

  • I bought a cheap exercise bike (<$100) last year. I modified the handlebars so I can rest my laptop on them without risk of it falling off. Uses magnetic resistance which I find does not provide enough resistance - might need to modify it with a resistance roller. Zoom calls are about 30-60 mins. I do find the normal bike seats to be uncomfortable after about 30 mins. I also sit at a desk so maybe I need to get one of these or something similar or maybe just walk around my block every so often: https://www.insider.com/pros-and-cons-of-a-desk-cycle-2016-1…

Add a dynamo and you could charge your laptop by pedaling. Save on bills.

      • haha good idea! I think there was a bike in Canberra's Questacon that gives you an indicator as to how fast you need to peddle to run certain things. I think I had to go about 50-60km/h to get the fire engine lights as well as the other things to go on. Didn't last long though!

oh nice! great ideas. which exercise bike did you buy, was it kogan?

      • haha! how did you know? Think it was a fortis for about $60. Was on special. Can't seem to see it there anymore.

        • Haha nice, I just guessed because I'm interested in a bike thats from kogan. Good to hear the quality is good as Kogan products can be hit or miss sometimes

This is the one I was considering, it has a nice desk inbuilt https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/fortis-home-office-exercise-bik…

Though I may buy an aldi one ($200) if the seat is more comfortable, even after 30 min

          • @PenguinDownUnder: True about the quality being hit or miss. Haven't used it in a while and just tried it this morning for a zoom call. Resistance is still too light even at the highest setting so I'll have to do something about that. Also the cheap digital display is no longer working but don't miss it much as I just go by the clock on the laptop while on a zoom call. The one you showed looks much more practical and easy to pack away which is a plus.

            • @Transient: Oh gee thats annoying! There is another spin bike on sale at Aldi which you may be interested in, its $200 for black friday. I think the quality at Aldi is generally better than Kogan and easier to get refunds (though a spin bike would be hard to carry)

    I'll try again.

Mrs Paint uses one of these when WFH.

She has the ~$50 Aldi one though and loves it. No bobbing up and down either (unless she is under the desk)

  • nordic S15i is a pretty good one. i have no complaints.
