Covid Protocol Domestic Flight Mel-Syd

Could someone tell me the covid protocol for domestic flight Melbourne to Sydney flying Jetstar. Do you need to show your Vax certificate online, QR code or is a print out or screenshot of it ok? I have an elderly friend who is vaccinated and booked a flight to Sydney for Grandsons 18th Birthday, who doesn't own a smartphone or even willing to use one if I get him one. I have looked online, nsw/vic gov pages and his itinerary but cannot find this information. He does have a printed copy of his double vaccination and I wonder if this would suffice at airport check in/boarding/gates.

  • Printed copy should be enough . You can keep a digital copy in email as well in case they require.

If possible print on same day or day before as certificate has a date on it .

    • Printing it for him on the day he flys out is a great suggestion, Thank you for your help!

  • Hi,

Beyond just the flight to Sydney, consider what Check-in's are required while in Sydney…

Skybus, Taxi, Shops, Doctor's, Pharmacy, Bus, Train, Sightseeing, Hotel.

    Less if just a daytrip.

    Worth looking @ https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/check-covid-safe-…

Also consider a Check-in Card (if no Mobile Phone/App)

He's just in Sydney for one night stay. Thank you for your suggestions, all very good points that I hadn't thought of! And I will look into the links you mentioned also.

  • I just travelled last week ACT to Sydney, no Vax documentation was required for that trip. They commented only required for International flights (not sure how correct that is).

Only place I was asked to show my vax status was in the Sydney Qantas lounge on the return trip.

Masks were required to be worn throughout the airports and whilst on flight except for the normal exclusions ie eating or drinking.

Maybe consider calling the airline to confirm their check in requirements at both locations.

    • I wasn't sure if it applied to just International flights aswell and could barely find any definitive answers online, thanks for sharing your experiences and I will call the airline to try get a better understanding of what he may need.

Check ins for other state (Sydney) was pretty easy, first time used checkin scan it takes you to website and you put in your details. It must then save them to the cache of your phone or link to the phone number because all other checkins it took me to same web check in page and my details were already auto filled so I just had to click confirm check in if I wasnt travelling with anyone else
