Loyalty Cards - Everyday Rewards/ Flybuys Conversion

Hi

I was reading this article and was curious to what Ozb thinks is the best way utilize the Everyday rewards or Flybuys.

Till now I get $10 for every 2000 points but I think QFF seems better option, your views?

  • QFF seems better option

    Why?

    • But the same amount of points from Woolworths can earn you 1000 Qantas frequent flyer points, and the same amount of Flybuys points can earn you 1000 Virgin Velocity Points.
Qantas offers some flights from 8000 frequent flyer points, and Virgin offers some one-way flights from 2500 frequent flyer points.

      As per the Link.

  • 8000 QFF points is a one way Syd >Melb + $40 in taxes ($120)

Syd>Melb readily available sub $100 regular price, with sale fares lower again.

Why is QFF a better option?

    • I dont know the answer, thats the reason I posted for your views about this !

      • But why do you think QFF is a better option than cashback based on that article?

    • Domestic economy redemptions are a waste of points. The real value is in international business and first class although they can be hard to get given the low number of seats available and high competition. If you can plan around this then the value of Qantas Points can easily be multiple times more valuable than Everyday Rewards dollars.

It’s better to buy groceries somewhere cheaper and save the difference, the points are part of the markup in price.
If your converting points into airline points for international first/business redemption it’s worth it, but if not, your better off just getting 2000/$10 at the supermarket. Your loyalty to supermarkets/airlines costs you more than you gain.
