Does the book shout / scream at you? Geez talk about being a bit over the top on that SAS show. The shouting at the contestants, especially the women, turned me off the show. Too much bullying for my liking.

i would normally agree with any other profession in any other situation, but the idea with the OTT shouting is to condition them to take a verbal lashing if they're captured by the enemy and not be coerced into giving more information other than the geneva convention p.o.w. basics of name, rank, dob and service number.
and i'm willing to bet verbal abuse isn't the only method used to extract information if the situation were real.
I hear what you are saying, but let’s be real here. SAS is a reality TV show and not the real thing. Kids watch the show and might think this is normal behaviour on how you should speak to people.
I've only seen a couple of episodes but from what I gather the whole point of it is to simulate the SAS training and recruitment process. So likely not "kids show" material
Why especially the women ? They know what they've signed up for, and are looking to push themselves in an adversarial environment.
