DEWALT Trade-in Offer - TOTAL TOOLS. $110 Value Per Cordless Set Towards Dewalt 18V Range

70

Saw the catalogue in the paper on Thursday. Apparently been going all of March. You also get a free battery by redemption.

Cordless tools must be trade quality: Makita, Metabo, Milwuakee, Hitachi and Bosch (Blue) only. Voltage doesn't matter. (not sure why Panasonic not included…)

$50 per tool, $20 per charger and $20 per battery. Supposed to all be working, but they didn't check most of my batteries.

I had one kit at home, bought 4 more from eBay/Gumtree and came home with a $650 kit (hammer drill, impact driver + 2x3.0Ah) with an outlay of $260.

The conditions don't technically limit how many tools you can trade in, but 1 of the 4 stores I called said they would only take 1 equivalent sized kit.

Good luck!

  • Nuts, I've got some old, working Black and Decker tools lying around that I want to replace. Looks like they're going to Cashies for $5…

    • my thoughts exactly… would of been a great deal…
not trading in my panasonic 18v for dewalt…. would of let me old B&D go though if they allowed it.

  • none in perth :(. otherwise not a bad deal.

Dewalt Australia (Black and Decker) are a bunch of bullies, I legally grey imported a bunch of tools for retail sale via an online website I ran which is now defunct - (their top drill sells for around $120 in the US vs $300 here) took them about 2 months to send their lynch men around to threaten me.

Consumers should be aware that the Dewalt 18v range marketed here are the same tools sold in the US (mainly made in Mexico) - its just the grey imports come with "seller warranty - or no warranty" vs Dewalts 3 year Australia Warranty. Given you can replace the entire tool at least once and still be better off - importing these tools direct is the way to go if you need them (in my opinion).

['lynch men around to threaten me.']

      threaten you with what ?

Maybe you could post details for direct links to allow others direct import as a bargain here ?

      • +1

Agreed, would be happy to import at half the price if possible. Have your calculations taken into account the voltage requirements for the charger?

        • +3

The 240v AU chargers cannot be easily obtained overseas, this is the only part of the kit you need to buy retail here. Batteries, All tools etc can be found online for a fraction of the local price. The only caution I would have is for ozbargainers considering direct importing to ensure they keep their total consignment value under $1000AUD OR us a freight service such as DHL which offer in house clearance and AU tax payment services - if you need to engage a customs broker to clear your consignment when it arrives in Aust. you'll blow any savings you would have otherwise made.

effgee: Threaten to bring the wrath of a multinational legal team to the door of my 2 man business and crush me financially for unofficial use of "copyrighted" images used in the presentation of the products I was selling. They also suggested that my goods were "counterfeit" and could be seized and also tried telling me that if anyone injured themselves with one of the tools etc - I would personally be liable etc etc (I guess they assumed my business had insufficient indemnity and liability insurance).

In the end I was asked to sell down my current stock and not bring any more over OR they would buy all of my stock from me at my cost price - OR - I would be litigated against.

Somehow (I assume) they tracked down my supplier (I'm guessing by buying at least one of my tools and tracking the serial number back) - after thousands of tool sales he then abruptly refused to deal with me.

Corporate thuggery alive and well in Australia.

        • i remember having to deal with an english company for allegedly dumping their products in australia. the australian distributor threatened legal action, and i said "ok". i never heard from them since 1992. like jason101, i was told that i was infringing on copyright, supplying counterfeit products, etc.

the only difference was, i refused to stop and continued my business as normal. it took the company 3 years to drop their prices to my level (and even lower to gain back market share) eating away at my profits and then i decided to stop importing them as it wasnt worth the hassle.

so with the last comment about corporate thuggery, i agree 100%.

  • what are they going to do with the old tools?

  • Why not accept my Ryobi?

  • +2

How is this a deal ? Trade in your good brand tools, in working order only, for some black & decker yellows ?

I guess it may be attractive if your batteries are dead & you want to change brands.

    • +1

your good old tools with nearly dead ni-cad batteries for brand new, quality trade-warranty lithium tools. the dedewalt XR range is hardly B&D, do your research…

  • Do they still have the dewalt drill on special for around $250 if so I will be taking my old makita in.

  • +1

Cash Converters (buggered if i will ever refer them as good old Cashies) will probably buy the trade ins and sell them to mugs for top dollar.
