ReAmped Advance - How Does It Work

Hi there,

Is anyone currently on ReAmped Advance (electricity), and can breakdown how their billing works? Are you paying fortnightly, rather than quarterly?

Trying to sign up & it's asking for $60 fortnightly payment upfront (which is fine - I'm assuming this is like a deposit, and the remainder of the bill is charged based on usage?)

Seems to be cheaper than their Handshake plan & has the same features (except the payment).

Advance:
Peak (c/kWh) 0.1751
Supply (c/day) 0.759

Handshake
Peak (c/kWh) 0.2057
Supply (c/day) 0.737

Cheers OzB fam!

PS - I already have a referral link - pls do not pvt msg me

UPDATE - They gave me a callback - really positive service!
Basically the estimated fortnightly figure gets used a credits against your final meter read - and the difference rolls over onto the next billing cycle.

Pay $50 per fortnight from your chosen account, meter is read as normal every three months and they send you a bill for the balance. Easy as.

    • Excellent thank you!

Would you have any insight why they'd discount 31% less than reference price for paying fortnightly, instead of 23% on Handshake? lol

      • No idea, didn't ask…

      • Well youre giving them a flat rate for energy when, unless you are running hydro, You wont be using that much energy so youre pretty much giving them free money for a larger discount when your bills due.

You pay an amount based on your projected usage. In my case I usually pay $40 a f/night but this will sometimes fluctuate between $20 and $40. Ostensibly this is based on your usage (although how this works is not explained) but your account balance also plays a role.

So your account will continue to accrue credit every f/night and you will pay quarterly like normal, utilising the credit and the balance (if any) will also be charged.

Presumably the cheaper rates are in exchange for paying upfront and them not having to chase you later on/make a payment plan.

    • I see so it can fluctuate, thanks!

The T&Cs also explain that they may undercharge/overcharge so I guess it will always average out at the end of the billing cycle

I've been on this plan for ages, the way it works is that you just pay in advance every fortnight, i've paid like 60 dollars to begin with, and at the end of 3 months.
they do a tally, they issue you the 3 months invoice, and basically deduct all the fortnightly advanced payments. if you've used more, then you get debited the difference.
if you used less, the credit carry's forward. depending on how big or small the credit or debit is, they will adjust the advance.
for my case, i was paying 60 in advance, and then when i started to work from home more, they increased it to 80, which more of less balances it out at the 3rd month (usually a small difference of 20-30 bucks)

    • Awesome thanks for your detailed response! I'll update the post :)

  • I would recommend whichever plan is cheapest for you at the point of signing up. Back when I initially signed up, the Handshake plan was significantly cheaper than the Advance plan.

  • You're lucky. I pay 0.268/kw in advance and thats the cheapest in SA!

    • yeah I heard SA is a rort - some still getting away with 0.35/kWh wthhh

      • I’m on Advance in SA and your peak price is my off peak price :/. Now you probably know why we have one of the highest take ups of rooftop solar in the world.
