I would like to jump to good guys (telstra) plan to claim the gift card.
My jbhi fi - telstra postpaid plan is well over the 1 year contract length so I am free to move.
If I go to good guys store and sign up for a telstra deal will I be eligible for a gift card?

if old mate doesnt have telstra services other than the mobile he can try his luck by porting out then porting back in right after, some reports say it can go through (at processors digression it sounds like).
You are existing Telstra customer, so you aren't eligible.

You shouldn't have to port out if you add the plan to your existing account with a new number then contact Telstra and get them to delete the new number and use your old one. I've heard this has worked from previous JB deals posted
Yeah, it's not a given, though. You need to find a Telstra rep whose prepared to do it and they often aren't.
You can just message their online chat and do it.. ?
Not all chat reps will allow it, though. That's my point. It seems like some reps are happy to do it, but it's not a standard procedure. So there's some chance they'll say no and you're stuck with a new service with a new number. Just want to make people aware.
Not without porting to a non Telstra Sim first, from what I read here.
Then need to wait between a minute to a month.
