Hello curious if anyone can advise what the cause is here.
I have newly painted internal doors with high gloss paint 2 coats, with primer undercoat. The doors are cheap ones from Bunnings.
The paint has started to crack in the direction from the door handle to the door edge in a horizontal direction. So I’m assuming to do with door handle.
Any advice on the cause and best way to remedy. Thanks

How many doors? Are they all doing the same thing?
Could be improper surface preparation before priming, dirt, grease, etc

2 out of 3 doors have done this now
paint too thick and not properly dry before recoating
Sounds like you’re locking someone in their room
Definitely go deadbolt or padlock

Ok the photo it looks like damage to the paint but not cracking.

One's a crack (to paint and/or door), the other is damage that is not a crack.
looks more like a scratch as opposed to cracking
Door handle is probably installed on wrong side of door.
Should be installed in lock block side. There isn’t much holding these doors together, they are basically cardboard with 4 sticks of pine, if you drill latch thru wrong side you will compromise the very weak frame.
Hinges should be in hinge stile side.

Door hardware screwed on too tight or maybe the door has been slammed shut?
