Blue colour only at this price, Black and Silver still full price. Might be a nice gift for people into these kind of fancy pens. Personally I only have ones my work provide or from conferences etc.

It has a contemporary style with a blue lacquer finish and chrome-plated trimmings, as well as a slim, cylinder profile for a comfortable grip when you're writing away. It comes in a Sheaffer gift box, which is great for giving this pen to a loved one as a present, or as a handy storage solution for when your pen isn't in use.

I suppose it depends if you prefer a ball point or a fountain pen. For every day writing I think most people use a ball point. If your main use for a pen is signing stuff then fountain - I’m neither a CEO or celebrity so would stick to ball point.

      • As a matter of fact the only times I use a pen is to sign stuff… Mostly

The Lamy AL Star comes in rollerball as well as fountain. I love fountain pens for everyday writing but I wouldn't use one to sign anything - at least not with the default cartridge. Most inks are dye-based so will disappear when wet or fade and not look so great on copy paper. You'd need to use a converter with permanent ink and clean the pen regularly if you want to guarantee your signature stays put. Most ballpoint pens don't offer the permanence you might want for signing documents either, the rollerball Lamy would be a better option. The frugal CEO or celebrity would probably opt for a Uni-Ball Signo.

        • It sounds like you know a great deal more about pens than myself!
