[XB1, XSX] STAR WARS - KOTOR $7.47, Disney Epic Mickey 2 $7.48, LEGO Harry Potter Coll. $24.72 @ Microsoft

220

Star Wars - KOTOR at half price is a pretty sweet deal for a classic. Might be nice to play before the remake comes out (whenever that might be). Lots of other Star Wars games on sale as well. Disney Epic Mickey 2 is great if you have kids who love Disney, its meant to be a pretty fun co-op game too. Not many Harry Potter games around on current gen, so LEGO Harry Potter seems to be one of the best ways to go to Hogwarts on current gen. XCOM 2 is very tempting at this price. Same with Yakuza 0, even though its on Game Pass, at this price I wouldn't mind buying it to keep. Extra 9% off really sweetens these deals.

You can also get a further 9% off these prices if you have access to Suncorp Rewards, you just need to purchase Microsoft/Xbox Gift Cards. The only thing is that the gift cards can only be bought in $10, $25, $50 or $100 blocks. You just redeem it as credit on your account that can be used on purchases at any time.

  • Woah! There is a remake of KOTOR coming out?!? When?!?

Lucky you made me check, I didn't realise it was so far away! According to this article (https://www.techradar.com/au/news/knights-of-the-old-republi…), could be end of 2022 if not later.

      • Still, it's pretty awesome they are remaking it, was one of my favourite games growing up

    • Unfortunately Bioware has hired Sam Maggs to re-write Knights of the Old Republic….

Expect it to be some PC "woke" sjw crap.

I don't know why people can't just write good stories without having to shove politics into them every chance they get, they couldn't have picked a writer who was more of a wrong fit than her.

To copy paste a comment someone made on this article

Imagine seeing a writer who not only hates men with a passion but hates the main demographic of your company’s product line. This writer also hates the very game you’re remaking, along with the original version of Star Wars. Then imagine that they hire her to remake the very game she hates for the very group of people she despises.

Here is a video of her complaining about being virtually raped in GTA V and getting a reporter to talk to the police cybercrimes division about it

      • That's cringe.

I'm going to pirate it and then not play it.

Oof.. Looked at that twitter post. Seems like a mistake to give someone with such disdain for the original material creative license to edit what is widely regarded as one of the greatest titles of the intercative canon. I just can't understand that decision, it seems incredibly risky. I sincerely hope the remaster turns out great and the changes don't kill the magic.

Disney needs to make an Old Republic TV show or trilogy.

If memory serves, there is an EA - BioWare - Lucasfilm - Disney exclusivity deal that has lasted for ~9 years and still has time left to go before the rights might become available to Disney-LucasFilm to use EA BioWare characters and likenesses from the MMO and games.

It’s not clear how the EA Disney relationship and IP works. If Kevin Feige were invested in The Mandalorian as a spinoff “New IP”, Old Republic is fertile ground for exploration of similar technology and character development without stepping on the toes of George Lucas characters (thus saving money from legal fees when they appear)

It’s also been a sore point for people that want to see any new Star Wars Games, such as the Lego Star Wars series etc since the gap between SWTOR and Battefront 2 / Jedi Fallen Order. The contract with EA does have “core gaming” restrictions set in the contract, so there is wiggle room for derivative works, but it’s not clear how or when the deal concludes. Or if it’s reciprocal.

There may be some overlapping IP issues because SW:TOR has created cinematic and TV trailers, and that copyright still exists until the MMO series licenses the story characters for reuse elsewhere.

While the possibility exists, it might have to be restructured in the same vein as the “High Republic” because the key characters are EA BioWare IP, and Disney Lucasfilm would not be be able to create Character Toys and Merch if the show does well.

It’s not as if the two can’t coexist, but it’s Disney.

      They exist for Merchandise.

Which is also largely why the Original Trilogy characters were replaced by generics from the Disney Sequels, especially the Toy/Merch lines. It’s taken years for that lockout to expire, which is why you are now seeing a glut of peripheral things like mugs, Toasters and BBQs with the Star Wars OT characters and likenesses back, because the movies have expired their various exclusive period(s), sic.

Feel free to disregard this if you can find more reliable sources, but it’s not entirely impossible that EA BioWare may have some sort of IP expectations, since they spent a lot of time back in ~2001 trying to carve out the niche with LucasArts, to create KOTOR.

Been waiting for Yakuza 0 to go on sale and this is perfect.

Best in the series both in gameplay and soundtrack, definitely worth keeping after gamepass

  • Also if you go through Microsoft on shopback you get 5.50% back.

If you know how to buy off of the US store then Lego Harry Potter is $10 US which is around $13.70 Oz instead of $24.72 :-)

I would very much appreciate it if you put up a guide or a link on how to do this.
