Free ladder - bargain
The forum says "Find me a Bargain". The OP listed to find a bargain.
Reading is hard.
I'm just not sure why OP didn't type their query into Google first?
How do you know that? Because I did a similar query and everything is around 900$.
If you can't help him find a bargain, don't comment.
@fiveferrari: It is just a lazily worded thread starter. If OP had given some context,
" Hi all, Im keen to buy an Ipad air 4 64gb but Im limited by budget of XX
I have looked around, other than Apple, XX retailers, lowest price from other retailers is XX
Maybe I could combine some coupon/discount code or gift card to bring the price down.
Any ideas? "
This would have gotten a lot of helpful comments from the community.
I’m surprised you didn’t Google the prices of iPads first before commenting.
I’m tryna find a bargain on a bargain website? Is that strange?
Maybe, you can click here
If you asked this two days ago, it would have been a lot easier to answer your question, because there were a couple of gift card deals at Woolworths and Target you could have taken advantage of! Doesn’t really matter though, I think I can still point out to you a couple of ways to reach your desired price range (and yes, my answer to your question invariably involves gift cards…).
NOTE: I have not considered eBay sellers (e.g. Wireless1), as I have no idea whether you’d get full warranty and ACL support from Apple if your iPad develops and issue and you take to directly to Apple to get it resolved. I haven’t had personal experience with purchasing Apple products from them and then asking for warranty or ACL support, so I’ll exclude them from this post. Feel free to explore that option if you’re interested!
You have two options:
1. Buying through Apple directly
The regular Apple Online Store lists the iPad Air 4 64GB Wi-Fi for $899. Not very helpful.
The Apple Education Store lists the same iPad for $829. If you purchase it through the Apple Education Store using 5% discounted Apple gift cards from a number of discounted gift card portals, that brings the price down to $787.55.
- However, Apple may audit your order and ask you to provide evidence that you are eligible for the education discount (e.g. you’re a uni student, you’re a parent of a uni student, you’re a lecturer or staff member at an Australian uni). This is rare, but can happen. You have been warned!
2. Buying through Apple Authorised Resellers
The cheapest brick and mortar retailer authorised to resell Apple devices appears to be Officeworks (at $859).
You can ask JB Hi-Fi to price match the Apple Education Store (at $829), but they will almost always require evidence you are eligible to purchase through the Apple Education Store (e.g. you have a university ID card).
Alternatively, you can ask JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys to price match Officeworks (at $859), but they will only price match Officeworks if it is in stock in Officeworks stores near you.
There are two reasons I mention JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys:
- They have discounted gift cards for their stores through a lot of discounted gift card portals.
- There is also a promotion currently running at Woolworths (in-store only) where you will earn 20x Everyday Reward points on Ultimate Home gift cards, which are sold in $100 and $50 denominations, plus JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys are participating retailers on both the Visa and EFTPOS Ultimate Home gift cards.
If you go to JB Hi-Fi and price match the Apple Education Store (at $829):
- If you use 5% discounted gift cards available from some discount gift card portals, it will end up costing you $787.55.
- If you use $800 in Ultimate Home gift cards purchased from Woolworths and $29 on another payment method, you’ll pay $829 for the iPad, but you’ll also have 16,000 Everyday Rewards points (worth $80) from purchasing the Ultimate Home gift cards at Woolworths. You can use the Everyday Rewards points on future purchases at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS and participating EG / Caltex Woolworths locations (excluding gift cards and a few other items).
If you go to JB Hi-Fi or The Good Guys and price match Officeworks (at $859):
- If you use $850 in Ultimate Home gift cards purchased from Woolworths and $9 on another payment method, you’ll pay $859 for the iPad, but you’ll also have 17,000 Everyday Rewards points (worth $85) from purchasing the Ultimate Home gift cards at Woolworths. You can use the Everyday Rewards points on future purchases at Woolworths, BIG W, BWS and participating EG / Caltex Woolworths locations (excluding gift cards and a few other items).
Other businesses (e.g. Harvey Norman) may also price match Officeworks, but they don’t really have discounted gift card deals that would bring the effective cost down into your price range.
Officeworks generally don’t have discounted gift cards either, so that’s why I never suggested you purchase an iPad from there.
Another tip: if you don’t already have an Everyday Rewards account and want to go down the Ultimate Home gift card route:
- Sign up to a new account or register a temporary card at http://edrewards.com.au/join and you’ll get 1,500 bonus points (worth $7.50) as a sign up bonus (which will be credited to your account within 30 business days). Don’t worry, the link is printed on Woolworths receipts if you don’t scan an Everyday Rewards card in a transaction. I also signed up a family member to a new Everyday Rewards account through this link and they got the sign up bonus, so it is legit.
- If you download the Everyday Rewards app onto your phone or tablet, sign in with your new Everyday Rewards account and boost the special offer for new app users, you’ll get 1,000 bonus points (worth $5).
Thank you very much! This is very helpful!
I will suss education store and try go through JB. Really appreciate you typing all that up and just learnt a new trick
