Best 27/28 Inch PS5 Gaming and Office Monitor

Hi all

After some suggestions for the best 27 inch monitor with a budget of $300 to $450
PS5 gaming and simple office monitor used for emails, zoom, excel, PowerPoint and streaming content such as Netflix and NBA league pass.
I’ve a MacBook

I know the PS5 doesn’t support 1440 at this stage.
I’ve looked at
Dell S2721QS
Dell S2722DC - leaning towards this one given USBC connection but understand it’s a 1440 so not ideal for PS5?
AOC U28P2U

Any recommendation on my list above or any other suggestions are much appreciated.
I’m a real novice so have done a lot of research but honestly feel like I’m now confusing myself.

1440p monitors will just output at 1080p on PS5.

I would strongly suggest 27" is far too small for both gaming immersivity as well as work productivity. 32" is the sweet spot in having 2 documents side by side or large Excel spreadsheets.

Also much better for gaming. You can get a 32" IPS 1440p monitor for that budget easily. I use a VX3276-2K-MHD for work home office.

Somewhat agree though I find two 27" works better for my needs. 27" is fine for gaming since you're sitting really close to the screen.

      • Same here 2x 27's much more flexible.

    • Some 1440p monitors can accept and downscale a 4K signal to 1440p. Still not ideal since the PS5 is wasting processing power on a higher quality image but it's better than upscaling a 1080p image

    • Pixel density is higher on 27". I'd say 32" for more relaxed games and 27" for FPS.

      It's strange that PS5 doesn't do 1440p.

I use a S2721DGF as my main monitor for work and gaming (Xbox Series X, 1440p, 120Hz, VRR).

    • You can get a 32" IPS 1440p monitor for that budget easily.

Serious question - with 1ms response time and refresh rate of 120Hz+?

  • Up your budget a bit and you can get a 4k screen from Samsung or LG.

    You happy with 60hz?

I have no idea what i am talking about but there is another post on here with dell monitors on special, the Dell 32 Curved Gaming Monitor – S3222DGM with promo code NEO35 which comes to $454.35 from $699, it has a quicker response time, is 32inch curved screen, has double the refresh rate which is good for optional 120hz 1080p ps5 gaming, and seemingly much better contrast compared to the one you were thinking about, its still only QHD not UHD, but for an extra $100 buck or so it seems like a much better option, for ps5 gaming i think it is always a good idea to have the option of 120hz which sadly i do not

    • Yes I saw this deal anyone can comment on the
      S3222DGM At that price?
Understand it’s a 1440 but I’m a casual type of gamer and hopefully on time the PS5 can support 1440.

Just thought a 4k screen is a bit more future proof.
Re the Samsung or LG 4k any recommendations?

While a 32 inch would be nice it just would be too big for the space though so ideally trying to keep it to the 27/28 level

  • Again, i don't know what i am talking about but if it was me, i would go for 4k, but i also would be aiming for 120hz, unfortunately i cant find anything like that close to your price range, as long as you are happy with 60hz, i would aim towards 4k, even though one day Sony will probably make the ps5 1440p compatible, that is still a maybe, at least with a 4k you know it will be working natively and run as it should, regarding Samsung vs LG, ive got no idea, but i did buy an LG 3d TV over 10 years ago, it has gone through 3 different owners, is currently mounted in an outdoor environment, and it has never skipped a beat, but that doesnt really directly relate to current monitor quality i guess

  • Thank you all for the input. Ended up going for Dell S2722DC mainly due to the USBC. My main use is as a work monitor and light video streaming 80% of time and 20% PS5 so thought the connectivity and cable minimisation outweighs the PS5 integration at this stage. Here’s hoping PS5 will support 1440 soon but not holding my breath nor am too fussed.

$339 was a pretty solid deal.
