    1. I want one badly. Them specs.
    2. There are plenty of custom Roms.
    3. Even with custom Roms, the Xiaomi not-anonymous-anonymous-data-collection leaves me feeling fidgety…..

I don't quite know why people are negging you for an 'opinion'….

I feel if you blatantly said it was the only possible answer, I'd neg you too…

But, being cautious is fine(Tho if you use google services even on a custom ROM, you are leaking telemetry either way…..

don't quite know why people are negging you for an 'opinion'

Its just fanboys who need a faceless brand name to be their friend. Happens in every mobile thread.

No, I only self compile AOSP source, so I know what code enters my phone. But I cant see baseband or firmware stuff, even with a custom rom.

I tend to use UbuntuTouch more than android anyway.

        leaking telemetry

Telemetry is fine, and welcome. Its how providers better adjust their apps to suit me.

Please collect my telemetry and metadata. Thats up for grabs.

It was just the various user data scraping leaks, and "anonymous collection" which several security firms confirming isnt anonymised that bothers me.

Some people have accepted all digital data is public (xiaomi phone dumps on the dark web are a good laugh, if you wanna snoop on folk), but personal opinion, my photos and my contacts and my txt's are "mine", and i should be able to choose where they go.

But there's now a whole generation out there who have been raised on 'zero privacy'; and I can accept that. To each their own.

They can neg away. Negs without replies are just folks who dont work in cyber security.

  • Do any of the custom ROMS allow VoLTE on Telstra? I have a Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro that i'm about to replace due to the lack of VoLTE/VoWifi. It used to work, but hasn't since one of the latest software updates.

I have relatively poor reception in my area which means VoLTE/VoWiFi is important.

Probably not, for what it's worth I have an X3 NFC and on stock, xiaomi.eu, and ArrowOS, Boost VoLTE/VoWiFi don't work.

I'm on boost running a pixel experience rom on a redmi note 9 pro with VoLTE enabled. Not sure if that can be generalised to your usecase

      • +1

Is that based on Android 10 or 11 ? It seems VOLTE issue is only affecting Android 11 MIUI or any custom rom.

        • Its running android 11, I highly recommend the pixel experience plus rom. It had seamless integration with google pay on two of my xiaomi phones.

          • @Qwertyworm: Thank you . Will move to pixel experience plus.

      • Oh thanks for that, I might install PE and see if it works!

Just checking, was boost VoLTE also working on the stock rom?

        • Sorry I can't confirm but a cursory google search says that it does

  • Was hope Banggood can beat Aliexpress on this phone, still a good price.

    • Is it cheaper on AliExpress?

I searched and it looks more expensive, unless I missed something.

11.11 sale, guess only for that day, but you can see what prices. You just search model name, if it has 11.11 red flag, check its picture.
        https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002441185938.html
        6+128 is USD263 + GST = 289.3, so 9.7USD less.

        • Oh right my bad, didn't look too closely there, just at the list prices. Thanks for the heads up!
