    • They last for many (8?) years in storage

      Then don't buy it!!

    • Totally, who needs so many? I don’t like to have them around, I have young kids.

Buying in bulk, that’s the Costco way.

Good price for a name brand.

    • Duracell is so so brand, not that great. Ikea sell their branded one much cheaper.

      • People have said they don’t last long (Ikea).

        • You are right,

        • anecdotal evidence, try put them into high drain device like a zigbee sensor and report it back. In reality it's very rare to find a device using CR2032 draining battery fast enough to make such claim, the Energizer, Ikea and even the cheap no name from Target, Reject shop that I used didn't make a difference.

The packaging is being phased out, not the battery

    • +1

I can't see how they can possibly phase them out. So many products use coin cell batteries.

"From 22 June 2022, fines and penalties may apply if you supply button/coin batteries, or products containing them, that don’t comply with these standards."

My car keys have coin cells for example. If they were completely phased out would it be illegal for me to buy replacements? I don't get it.

I understand the safety issue for young kids but it makes no sense to have a blanket ban. What happened to good parenting and supervision.

OP is mistaken. They just just to meet stricter standards as of next year. The fines and penalties are only if the batteries or devices using them don't meet said standards of safety.

  • ikea ones are 8 for $5 link

    • Read previous comments from OzBargainers on how terrible the IKEA ones are compared to other brands.

    • The ikea ones last just under two years in use.

  • costco delivers???
