Advice on Hyundai Santa Fe leaking diff

Hi All,

Just wanted some advice of my car, I have a Hyundai Santa Fe 2015 Diesel. Last year Hyundai replaced the transmission free of charge . That was a bit of a battle as it was out of warranty. I have notice the front diff has started leaking a little bit of oil and was wondering if anyone had a similar issue?

3 years ago Hyundai also replace both front and back diff. This cars been a bit of bad lucky to be honest, but hoping this is a small issue.

Leaking diff will cause gears to grind. Far from silky smooth

  • What did Hyundai say? Did their repairs have another warranty on them?

Forget the manufacturer - even the car itself apparently didn't bother to answer the question.

  • It's been 3 years, warranty only for 1 year. Haven't taken it in yet. Just thought if anyone had a similar issue.

Advice on Hyundai Santa Fe leaking diff

    • Fix the leak
  • I'd be taking it back asap as a warranty repair

  • Sell it.. I traded mine in 2013 with 150k km

    Got 20k

    • Did u have alot of issues with your car

      • None.. ran perfectly

Apart from a couple of non mechanical issues it was a great car. But like all cars they will start developing issues with age.

So I just got rid of it while I could get a good price for it.

I paid 40k 6 years ago with 35k km on the dial

  • Where is it leaking from? Where the tailshaft attaches or the cover?

    • Cover I believe, I will take a photo

  • Replaced both diffs, Replaced gearbox.

Quality car, sign me up for one.

2015 Santa Fe…no need to sign up, tow away today, plenty of eager sellers

  • If it's got very good service history and serviced on time take it back to them and force them for a solution usually car makers will still fix out of warranty work as long as Hyundai Aus authorise the dealer to fix it

    • I wrote an email to one of there general managers and instantly got a call back from service manager. The general line took 3 week to get a reply, they wanted to charge me 400 just to diagnose the issue.

Taking it in next week to get it assist free of charge, sounded like they were willing to fix it free of charge.

Question do I need to get it serviced at Hyundai in the future or can you go any where.

      • No, anywhere in the future ! no point taking it back to them and paying a premium

        • Thanks mate, they charge me 700 last Service, local shop was 250. Same genuine oil, filter etc.

I donno how they get away with it
