I thought this would be shit but it’s not. Filled it with Aldi Olive Oil and it’s great for a quick spray for the air fryer. I see a lot of complaints about it not spraying correctly so not sure if it helped ‘unclog’ the sprayer or whatever but I put some water in to test it first then added in the oil.

    • +2

Yeah there are lots of complaints in the reviews. I don't know if quality control is an issue or if people just managed to screw up using a spray bottle. Mine works perfectly with bulk canola oil.

      • +7

I have a few that are fine and one that does an early morning split piss, I think its quality control.

Honestly I'd pay more for a higher quality version of this same concept because I use them multiple times a day across a few different types of oil.

        • +3

Oh dear lord. An early morning split piss.

        • Would absolutely pay more for a higher quality version!

      • +1

I bought one and it was useless, didn't work.
I took it back and got it replaced, and the replacement one works flawlessly.

        • Definitely quality control then.

  • Could these be used for other stuff rather than oil? e.e. some bleach and water to spray a disinfectant solution around the house? I use those cheap spray bottles, but they tend to break rather easily

    • +1

The oil sits in a flexible plastic type bag. Not sure if it will degrade when in contact with chemicals or bleach

      • +5

na mate, they have updated their design. There is no flexible bag inside anymore. I've found them more reliable than the older style with the bagged interior. Slow push for a stream, fast push for spray. Haven't used it for chemicals, but why not just use the $2 trigger spray bottle from Coles for chemicals?

        • Not sure what "version" this one actually is but I took this from the Amazon listing

The inner bag technology ensures you use every last drop of oil

          • +1

@jjsu: could be description needs updating. You can look at the pics in reviews - it appears no bag.

            • @Rialonda: True - I was only looking at the grainy listing photos lol

          • @jjsu: Can't you just refill it when it runs low?

        • +1

Ah cool. Will find out what version I get shipped soon. Old one broke mysteriously and no one confessed 🤔

          • +1

@marantz: Can confirm this one doesn’t have the inner pouch anymore. I bought one awhile back and been very happy until one day it went to dishwasher and bottle shrank.
Best way to wash them is to use bottle washer and fill the bottle with soap water and use trigger to rinse of the mechanism.

        • Good to hear it, my wife destroyed the flexible bag by cleaning it with warm water.

        • My 'Bag' version stopped working, a tiny hole I think.

Called customer support and they sent me a new updated version.

          Works perfectly.

    • Apple store near me uses them for disinfectant so would say they do

    • +1

No, I tried this a few times with cheap $2 bottles and the bleach always degrades the rubber piece in the spray mechanism. So it ends up leaking all over my finger or stops spraying.

I bought a bottle spray bleach from Aldi and will refill that when it's empty instead.

    • +1

I gave up on using oil in mine and use it to spray vinegar when smoking meat.

  • Good stuff!
Just grabbed two, one for olive oil one for vegetable.

    • +2
      • Guy says in the video that olive oil is good, but that vegetable oils are bad.

        Olives aren't a vegetable?

        • More of a fruit or seed. When talking about oils, there's probably a difference when talking about these specifics.

          • @shiny1: You can't use olive oil to deep/stir fry. case closed.

          • @shiny1: You're right. Olive oil is Mono unsaturated and apparently less oxidative (the process which damages/ages cells). I cut seed oils out of my diet last year and within a few weeks started to feel better, especially energy wise.

            Longer video.

        • Olives are a fruit, a berry to be exact. From a culinary view they're a vegetable, but so are lots of fruits (tomato, pumpkin, avocado, zucchini, cucumber, capsicum, etc). If it's a fleshy plant with a seed(s) in it then it's probably a fruit.

  • I bought it when it was on sale before because of all the good reviews and I didn’t find it good. It drips oil, and the spray is more like a stream. It makes a mess for me. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    • Same with me. I thought it was the spray and requested a replacement. When replacement arrived I cleaned it and tested it with water - no probs. Then put in the oil and it's just a straight squirt, no mist or spray.
I've put it down to the type of oil, but I have tried both grapeseed oil and rice bran oil - both same issue.

      • +1

Yeah? If I press it gently I get a stream, and forcefully gives a fine mist.

What's yours do with a really firm fast squeeze?

        • I'll try tomorrow when I cook my eggs, but from memory, its just a much stronger stream…

          • @sphinxy: Yeah, same here. I use extra virgin olive oil in mine, and it's just how you described it.

      • Same with me. Only tried rice bran oil - just comes out in a heavy squirt not a spray.

  • is this with the bag inside or without?

    • Based on the comments above, supposedly without.

  • I bought this last time and frankly wouldn't buy it again. It leaks oil which gets very annoying and messy.

  • +1

I had lots of issues with the bag version. Have had the new version for a few months and going strong with rice bran oil.

I wonder if people having trouble with it squirting rather than spraying are from colder climates which makes the oil thicken a bit

  • I just recycle window cleaner spray bottle, good clean/soak and works like a treat

  • The problem is actually the type of oil you're using (specifically viscosity of it).

I have two of the bagged ones and the one using light olive oil is fine but the one using extra virgin olive oil drips.

  • for anyone looking for another option. I bought this $9 glass one from Aliexpress and I really like it.

be aware there is a long delivery wait.

    • That looks interesting.

  • +2

So my two sprayers arrived this afternoon, 19 hours after ordering so I'm impressed.
What is even more impressive is that I gave one a wash, dried and filled with olive oil.
Sprays a fantastic fine mist of oil.
    10/10!

    • What type of oil?

  • Ended up buying this at Woolies at the same price! Here’s hoping for less oil usage!

  • Not sure how it works with oil, although I intend to use this for oil in the future. Haven't been able to finish the one bought from Aldi long time ago; they just seem to last forever. Currently, I have 2 bottles. I put rosemary in vinegar for cleaning. The other's for spraying my citrus trees (with a combination of little bit oil, detergent and water). Both work well.
