Seeking suggestions, feedbacks on Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde

Hi guys,

I am looking for the best air purifier out there, to place in my bedroom, because I suffer from chronic hay fever.

From my own research, the Dyson Purifier Hot+Cool Formaldehyde seems to be the best performer and best looking. Does anyone have experience with Dyson purifiers and can share, please?

Also, please suggest other units you believe are better.

TIA

Doesn’t do formaldehyde- and has 8 week lead times

    • thanks for the suggestion. It seems good but I don't think I can hold on for another 8 weeks.

I have the non formaldehyde version (tp04 and hp04) and they seem to work quite well.

I don't have hay fever allergy though so can't comment too much.

I like the auto function, where it ramps up the fan speed when pollutant level is high.

Also works with google assistant etc

    • thank you

  • I have a HP04, which doesn't do formaldehyde. I also have 2x Xiaomi Air Purifiers because I hang around OzB too much.

I started off with a Xiaomi years ago and I can say I noticed a huge reduction in hayfever and general allergy symptoms.

One thing to be aware of is that the Dyson might ignore your fan speed settings and prioritise reaching the set temperature quickly. This means that if the ambient temperature is something like 18 degrees and you set Dyson to 21 degrees, it does not matter what speed you had set and it just goes crazy. As it approaches the desired temperature it slows down. This means it is really damn loud at night, especially if switching between the front and back diffuser modes.

Overall I do not regret the Dyson purchase but if you had this idea of using it in your bedroom while you sleep, forget it.

    • thanks for the warning with the noise issue! maybe I gotta go and test one in the shop

  • I have been contemplating to get Dyson Pure+Hot+Cool for a while now…. The only reason for not pulling the trigger yet is the cooling function.

It's just doesn't cool enough to justify the $600-$800+ purchase……..

    • To my understanding it doesn’t really cool as in aircon cool as such.. it’s just moving air around.

      • I also think for cooling it works just like a fan. Quite pricey I gotta say but looking at other high end air purifiers which are also expensive, like the AirClean e8, the dyson can be justified with its heating and fan functions + remote/phone control and the look

Ah you must hate me then.

    • -.-

  • Are there any alternatives to this which can do the heat/cool/air filtering? We have two HP03's which we bought during previous sales for about $500-600ish from memory and they've served us very well, but we now need one more and can only find HP09 as the model available (May 2022) and it's got zero discounts and no stock anywhere. All the previous ones have been on clearance before so no more sales.
